Plasticine
After first donning Luctor et Emergo I was laughing. It is really a funny scent. When I was little child, I had colored, perfumed plasticine, and also colored, perfumed eraser (pink). It has almost the same fragrance. I connect it only to good, childish, carefree things, but I am curious if somebody else feels the same.
First it shows more almond and cherry (I doubt that it would be sour cherry), later it is more sweet and powdery, but does not changes so much.

Hard to call this to a parfume, but it would never be a problem to me to wear it. The name is a bullseye - I do not know what it has to do with this fragrance, but it is easy to recall.

A Darker, More Sophisticated Cherry Almond Perfume...
I was reminded immediately of Lolita Lempicka FLEUR DEFENDUE upon donning The People of the Labyrinths LUCTOR ET EMERGO this morning. It was obviously the almond and cherry notes, which are rare enough and all the more in that particular couplet. Later in the day, I decided to see how close the two compositions really are and found that in fact FLEUR DEFENDUE is a lot sweeter and somewhat one-dimensional--more of a straight-up cherry and almond dessert perfume than this one is.

Relative to A*MAZE, LUCTOR ET EMERGO seems like a dessert perfume, but relative to FLEUR DEFENDUE, LUCTOR ET EMERGO seems like a much more sophisticated oriental perfume featuring something along the lines of ambergris in the base. No, it's not labdanum amber but the metal mesh texture I sense in the presence of ambergris.

I do not smell Playdoh or plumber's putty as others, including my buddy Aromi, below, have reported. The Playdoh perfume to end all Playdoh perfumes remains to my nose Dior HYPNOTIC POISON. LUCTOR ET EMERGO, in contrast, really seems to me to be ambergris, and I'd love to hear from anyone who can confirm or deny the presence of that substance in this otherwise dessert-sounding line-up of notes. The longevity and sillage are excellent, and I find this creation to be every bit as well-made as A*MAZE. Basically, The People of the Labyrinths have created two perfumes to cover the two big categories which appeal to women most: candy and flowers. Here we have the box of candy, but it is considerably more complex than the usual suspects.

I really like this perfume and over the course of the day and especially after reapplying it, I have come to appreciate why it has a cult following. It takes a bit of time to wrap one's nose around, but in the end LUCTOR ET EMERGO commands respect.

How Mon Cherie Should Taste
Like "Hypnotic Poison" or "Confetto," "Luctor et Embergo" is also an almond cherry scent that skillfully combines indulgence and sexiness. And even though the two mentioned alternatives are more successful and well-known, this 90s hidden gem can also make quite an impression.

Milk. Almonds. Mon Cherie. A cherry celebration of ripeness and volume. Never sticky, but refined. Yet still with considerable punch, especially at the beginning. If you don't like this style, it could mean a headache. However, if you enjoy it, it's practically the most beautiful ambrosia. Red shimmering and explosive in matters of love and perhaps even a few gentle slaps. A niche fragrance gem. Liqueur-like, delicious, with a slight heaviness. A gourmand with a bedroom gaze. Please do not overdo it. It's hard to untangle who copied whom in the mid-90s. In the end, it doesn't really matter.

Bottle: Chemistry lab associations
Sillage: POWER (especially at the beginning)
Longevity: 8-9 hours, it continues to make rounds in the mind and memory

Conclusion: the gentler, better "Hypnotic Poison"? It provides arguments. And simply smells divine. A delectable niche class.

A true genie in a bottle. A good spirit as well.
They say you shouldn't smell the bottle. But who really sticks to that when they come across a fragrance they smelled on a friend and now absolutely must have for themselves? Thus begins the story between Luctor & Emergo and me. I had received a sample a while ago, but I ignored it because my main purchases had to be worn and used up first. Then came the meeting with the friend who smelled wonderfully soft and balancing (though she is quite an aggressive woman, which I mean positively. She knows how to assert herself).

At home, I rummaged through my samples and lo and behold: Jackpot! Package open, cap off, nose to it and - bang! - an olfactory knockout. Chemical, unassessable, somewhat rubbery. Nothing pleasant. I pondered for a long time where I knew this smell from, and only after a while did it dawn on me: It's eraser!

Do you perhaps remember? From school? Well, you certainly don’t want something like that in a perfume. And then there’s that bottle, which looks like a chemistry set. I was really done and deeply disappointed - not only because it was so pleasant on my friend and just so chemical-plastic on me, but also because it was tied to all those unpleasant memories. Erasers are not only associated with school (good memory) but mainly with mistakes (bad memory). You don’t want to think about having been dyslexic. Not now, when you’re an adult and enjoy writing.

But while I was getting all worked up, my skin was developing that gentle undertone. It sneaks up on you, you don’t hear it, but it doesn’t grab you; it kisses you awake. Like Sleeping Beauty being awakened from her slumber. Marzipan, almond blossom, almond, roasted almond, vanilla, soft woods (teak?), tonka bean, and as acidity a splash of cherry and cherry blossom. Then a bit of sandalwood and a hint of a whisper of incense. It’s creamy soft, warm, inviting, gentle, and incredibly balancing. It affects the mood, brings you into balance, and that has its positive effect. One might think because of its diverse sweet aromas that it’s a gourmand. But it’s not. It’s more oriental and woody.

A true genie in a bottle! A good spirit too.

A great scent that doesn’t overwhelm with loud sticky sweetness, but instead has a subtly fine-spicy vibe. It’s really well done.

I should have bought it blindly back then. Almond-vanilla, subtly spicy and woody. Close to the skin but long-lasting. Amazing!

A dream scent come true with ground almonds, sour cherries fresh from the tree, and a hint of grass. THE fragrance for a white summer dress.

Soft powdery almond notes + delicate cherry aromas, flanked by white blossoms and vanilla, resting on the finest wood. Close to the skin, yet present.

Vanilla almond with a hint of cherry and a woody structure. Created in 1997, it was surely avant-garde and clearly an inspiration for later >>>

Nectar of the gods for a juicy summer: grass, cherry marzipan, and the green hell of a blooming meadow. A little goes a long way. Genius.

First, powdered sugar-dusted cherry cake. Then not typically gourmand - rather lightly resinous, must be the woods. Unusual, exciting.

Was a cult fragrance in some internet forums around 2005. To keep it short: Play-Doh - the modeling clay. As a perfume. Cherry-almond-vanilla trio. Nothing else.

I smell bitter almond with sour cherry, without any association to something edible, then it becomes slightly sweet and creamy...unusual, but somehow sexy.
