The better Layton for me
Got the Dusk today.
First of all, the packaging. It arrives very high quality and the bottle is also very high quality. Like a niche fragrance, even better than some. The cap is magnetic, which gives it an even more premium touch. The fragrance is also like a niche fragrance, no alcohol smell, very deep and complex smelling. Only the spray head is lacking in the category, but it's still not mega bad but not particularly outstanding either. A small plus is the travel spray that comes with it. Change the spray head and you could sell the fragrance for 5 times as much. My opinion. It easily beats several designer fragrances in every category except the spray head.
About the fragrance: I can say right away that in my opinion it comes very, very close to Layton, with only minor differences that are really insignificant. There are only differences in the top note for the first few seconds to minutes and only if you compare it really closely with your nose and even then I think 90% could not distinguish the two in a direct comparison. In the air it would therefore not be possible to tell them apart at all. I don't have the Layton with me, but I had it for months but then gave it back because I felt (my nose) that it didn't last long or had too little sillage. But it could really just be my nose. That's why I think the Dusk is much better. Not to mention the price-performance ratio.
As for the fragrance description, the Dusk starts a little fresher than the Layton. The top notes are citrus or apple, cardamom (which makes the opening fresh) and spices in the background. Later, the cardamom fades a little more and more vanilla and spices come to the fore. However, the apple and cardamom are still present and don't disappear (thankfully).
Personally, I don't like fragrances that are too sweet. Dusk and Layton are sweet but not too sweet for me. The Dusk doesn't seem any sweeter to me than the Layton.
The Dusk is also very present and not a faint smelling fragrance.
All in all, I am really pleasantly surprised by the Dusk and would like others to copy it and deliver similar quality. For me, the original is simply superfluous. They've come up with something really strong imo. I wonder what other fragrance connoisseurs think about it.
