It is not entirely surprising that Arethusa is the namesake of a plant, specifically an orchid species called "Arethusa bulbosa".
While we do not find an orchid within the fragrance pyramid, a connection can certainly be made, as it must be clearly stated that Arethusa by Tiziane Terenzi has a strong floral note.
However, it does not stop there, as I believe there is much more to discover, leading to a truly beautiful scent.
In addition to the floral, quite dominant influences, grapefruit plays a crucial role. Supported by ginger, the Adam's apple presents its citrusy character, which significantly and pleasantly lightens the rather dense floral notes.
True to Terenzi's style, the overall composition has a slightly synthetic DNA, which I do not wish to criticize, as there is a harmonious scent cloud present.
The synthetics cause a bit of a "sting" in the nose during the first few minutes. However, the sandalwood in the base quickly softens the character and noticeably rounds off the scent.
I definitely perceive a more pronounced orange blossom, as well as jasmine.
I cannot explicitly detect all the other listed notes, but they certainly contribute their part.
In summary, we have a fresh, harmonious, somewhat synthetic, and floral scent, whose citrus influences are continuously present but fade more and more over time. Nevertheless, Arethusa is much more than just a simple "floral scent".
In my opinion, the perfume is unisex wearable, although I would love Arethusa a bit more on a woman.
Sillage and longevity are to be considered in the good middle range. The scent projects moderately without being intrusive or overwhelming. Accordingly, the fragrance is suitable for various occasions and can certainly be seen as an all-rounder.
I like the bottle; Terenzi provides not only the "big cap" but also a small cover cap. Some caution is advised when handling the bottle. One should not hold it by the "big cap", as it becomes quite loose on top after a short time, causing the bottle to slip from the hand quickly.
The name of the orchid is borrowed from an ancient myth. Arethusa was a nymph. You can read about what happens in the ancient myth in the last part of my review of this fragrance - if you like and are interested. It's a mysterious animistic-pantheistic myth about the union of a man and a woman without any sex. Maybe it explains even more about this scent. After all, the name has surely been chosen carefully; someone at Terenzi knows their stuff when it comes to the intricate mythology of ancient Greece. This myth touches me and creates a longing. Unfortunately, not for this fragrance. If you don鈥檛 like it - I鈥檓 not saying this to promote myself - that鈥檚 fine too. Your description of the scent is very good, much better than mine.
