Love at first sniff for me. Ebene Fume is a hypnotically smooth blend of palo santo, sweet resins, glossy dark woods and incense. The labdanum wears slightly animalic. While this is dark and woody, luckily the composition is not overloaded by those blunt, nose-singeing, everlasting woody-amber aromachemicals that are so popular as base notes these days. The whole effect is spare, streamlined and alluring. The scent smolders and projects around the wearer like a swirling veil which means bystanders notice it more than many other scents. I like to wear it in my hair and I have had more than a few people lean in for another sniff. Once warmed up, it's the kind of scent you want to take a deep breath of. Gorgeous stuff.
