This was a big surprise for me. I usually steer clear of rose/patchouli fragrances because they have become so ubiquitous over the past several years that I thought the last thing needed is another one added to the market. So, I had zero interest in even trying it until I received a sample with a recent purchase and immediately fell in love.
This is beautiful. A jammy rose, slightly spicy from the Sichuan pepper, with an herby patchouli and delicious tonka dry down. I usually hate sweet notes blended with patchouli, but here the spice notes blend with the patchouli creating a warm earthiness that balances out the sweetness of the rose and tonka. And unlike other rose scents in the spicy rose genre, it isn't Middle Eastern, or syrupy sweet, but just sweet enough that it should satisfy those with gourmand tastes and green, spicy, and earthy enough for those who enjoy rose chypres too. Since I enjoy both, this is a delight for me. I think because of that, it should have wide appeal to both young and old alike.
I had purchased a travel sprayer which should last quite a while since this lasts and projects very well on me, though a fb is not out of the question in the future.
