Surprisingly surprising

Tom Ford may name his fragrances like they're one-note wonders, but they're frequently complex and often divisive. Except for Tobacco Vanille, you old charmer, you. Anyway, Rose Prick is so aptly named, I hope whoever thought of that got a raise. If you're worried about being deluged in a downpour of petals like Mena Suvari in that one scene in American Beauty, fear not. Rose Prick is exactly that; it pricks your nose with opening notes of rose, then quickly moves on to its peppery-tart compliment, a blend that doesn't hit you immediately, but keeps bringing you back around to sniff it again.

That's what happened when my friend brought samples back from her trip through a duty-free shop. We kept coming back to Rose Prick, at first not giving it much for props, but eventually admitting we couldn't stop sniffing it.

Though (like many Tom Ford fragrances) it doesn't project like a beast, I'd keep this one out of the office. It's a *declarative* scent, and unless you're gonna yass qween your way to the top of the pecking order, maybe keep it reserved for when you want to make a statement. A sly, winking, knowing statement. You don't worry if their head didn't turn; you know they'll be back, noses pricked for whatever that intriguing fragrance is.

Roses body milk

The new rose based perfume by Tom Ford is like the rest of the private blend's perfumes: It has an awesome smell but a weak performance. The scent makes me think of fragances like lyric by amouage but more simple, more creamy and with worse projection. Although It shares some notes with other TF like noir noir is totally different. I find It unisex and better for a dayly use more than a perfume to go into special events. For me It is more like wearing a roses body milk than a proper perfume.

Too loud!

I do not know what’s going on with my skin? The perfume smells super cheap and loud, I mean it’s shouting I’m here!…The scent was not what I expected. It felt like a bottle from the dollar store. If this is what great fashion and sensual means, man oh man….do I have the wrong picture…..This a loud, loud, loud scent. Cheap smell. You can obtain the same smell by combining 2-3 bottles from the dollar store and pouring it over your head. Maybe the dollar store perfume won’t last as long as this one……Maybe it’s my skin but this is not what I expected from rose scent.

My Presumptions Were Wrong

This was a big surprise for me. I usually steer clear of rose/patchouli fragrances because they have become so ubiquitous over the past several years that I thought the last thing needed is another one added to the market. So, I had zero interest in even trying it until I received a sample with a recent purchase and immediately fell in love.

This is beautiful. A jammy rose, slightly spicy from the Sichuan pepper, with an herby patchouli and delicious tonka dry down. I usually hate sweet notes blended with patchouli, but here the spice notes blend with the patchouli creating a warm earthiness that balances out the sweetness of the rose and tonka. And unlike other rose scents in the spicy rose genre, it isn't Middle Eastern, or syrupy sweet, but just sweet enough that it should satisfy those with gourmand tastes and green, spicy, and earthy enough for those who enjoy rose chypres too. Since I enjoy both, this is a delight for me. I think because of that, it should have wide appeal to both young and old alike.

I had purchased a travel sprayer which should last quite a while since this lasts and projects very well on me, though a fb is not out of the question in the future.

Comfy and spicy rose scent

I own amazing rose scents in my collection like: Portrait of a Lady Eau de Parfum , Nahema Parfum , "Nombre Noir / ノンブルノワール (Parfum) | Shiseido / 資生堂"

One would think that I would actually despise Rose Prick Eau de Parfum . But yhis one is one of my guilty pleasure. It is a jammy rose, with the right amount of spice to give it some bits but not too much in order to keep it cuddly enough. The rose patchouli combination reminds me of POAL but less sumptuous and majestic.

I feel this one gets a lot of hype because its flashy double entendre name. But please try to get past this, and try it.

For me it is leaning a bit feminine but I do know a few men who love wearing this scent. Longevity is fairly good. It is an amazing wear during colder months.
