This grew on me
This has been on my radar for a while because it was recommended by someone whose taste aligns with mine. It has been discontinued for years, but Trish McEvoy recently brought it back as a purse spray so I bought it immediately.
When it arrived (in late wintertime where I am) I was disappointed. It seemed too aldehydic for my taste, and too linear, and a little old-fashioned. It reminded me of my mom’s rich friends in the 80’s—lovely women, but it didn’t feel like “me.” I put it away for a while and tried it again in the spring. It was like a new fragrance! I don’t know whether it needed to mature, or if it needs a warmer season to be fully appreciated, or if my taste changed in a few months, but I love it now.
Now the aldehydes feel fresh and shower-clean. The gardenia is realistic, and there’s a little bit of sweetness under it all that might be from tonka bean. It really sparkles in the spring and it’s become my go-to daily perfume.
I might switch to something else when summer arrives, but for now, I can’t get enough. Uncomplicated, fresh, and feminine.
