Not so precious, not so pink, not so jasmine
My first reaction to Trish McEvoy PRECIOUS PINK JASMINE was surprise that it should remind me so much of Fresh PINK JASMINE. A sweetish fruity floral more than a jasmine perfume, but a decent one for what it is. Shortly thereafter, however, the dreaded aromachemical STUFF reared its ugly head and wiped out the refreshing fruity-floral opening. I think that it's fair to say that by now I've developed an aversion to that stuff, which comprises a combination of iso-E-super, ambroxan and some other aromachemicals all mixed together and deployed as a base in hundreds of perfumes these days.

I find it interesting that no woods or amber are listed in the hierarchy for PRECIOUS PINK JASMINE, because usually when this STUFF is included in a perfume it is masquerading as cedar and amber. Here no mention is made of such notes, so no one is pretending that it's supposed to smell like substances found in nature. I must therefore give the house credit for honesty. But the composition is not appealing to my nose as I dislike that STUFF and would not purchase a bottle of this. Reviewers have compared this scent to D&G LIGHT BLUE, and that is because the same base is dominant in both. The opening essentially becomes irrelevant.

For a perfume of this type minus the overbearing aromachemical base, I recommend Fresh PINK JASMINE--although I should say that I have no idea whether it has been reformulated under the "guidance" of the house's corporate master. My bottle smells good, but that's no guarantee of anything...
