Light Blue re-incarnated with apple
I hate to sound so negative, but why do designers bother to release a fragrance that is going to be yet another predictable and generic fruity scent, marketed as being 'clean, crisp and modern'.

This fragrance is attempting to emulate D&G's Light Blue and DKNY's Fresh Blossom. Instead of a harsh lemon note, green apple is the centerpoint in the opening. It has a somewhat fresh watery-ness.

Sure True Religion makes me feel clean, yet the more it develops, I begin to feel sticky. The scent doesn't sit too well on my skin, and I blame cheap ingredients.

Thankfully True Religion is light and rather fleeting. I'm a little surprised by how expensive this fragrance is in my country when compared to overseas. Perhaps my negative reaction is partly due to the vast differences in price and its over-the-top marketing.

I'm attempting the smell this fragrance again now that it has reached the drydown, and I must admit that it gets gradually better, less tangy apple, and more smooth, refreshing cedar, freesia and musk.

Not bad, but not wonderful either. It seems like a copy of so many other scents on the market these days.

The Religion of Hygiene?
TRUE RELIGION is a straight-up shampoo/conditioner frag. Squeaky cleanish with a touch of sweetness. Very synthetic but not in an aggravated-assault-on-the-central-nervous-system way. It's okay, but there are literally dozens of these on the market today. Variations on this scent are used to fragrance any number of shampoos and conditioners as well.

Not my kind of thing, but a perfectly serviceable "shower in a bottle scent," if that's what you're looking for. My own preference is to take a bath--and then apply perfume.

Refreshing Water Styled for Modern Times
Well, since the temperatures have suddenly risen from arctic cold to early summer heights, it's time to dig out the summer fragrances from the back corner and give them a test.

I received True Religion as a birthday gift last year and have come to appreciate it on sultry summer days.

One thing to note: If you're looking for a sophisticated scent composition, you are in the wrong place. However, if you're in search of a refreshing, quite pleasantly scented water, you will find True Religion quite appealing.

True Religion starts off zesty-lemony with a light, unobtrusive sweetness and then transitions into a very pleasant, slightly woody base. I also suspect a nice dose of Ambroxan, which gives that certain Hmmm-feeling. The longevity of the zestiness is rather weak, but you can generously spritz it on throughout the day without torturing the environment.

For me, True Religion is more of a refreshing water in the league of CK one and its counterparts. In summer, I carry the bottle in my handbag like others do with their Eau de Cologne.

The bottle is rather a behemoth; however, the matte, slightly rough glass reminds me of crushed ice and reflects the scent well for me.

Liquid Ice Candy.
I wanted to test this fragrance for a long time and finally got around to it.

I was immediately positively surprised and I had to associate the scent with something that made me smile inside. And that is ice candies! And I really love ice candies. They are delicious. Delicious, refreshing, a bit sweet ... just good indeed.

When I say this in connection with this fragrance, it really means something, because those who know me are aware that I usually don’t care for fresh scents at all. I prefer to simply leave them aside, and when I do test them, I quickly realize that it’s just not my fragrance direction.

It’s funny that this association fits the bottle really well. By the way, I also find it quite pretty and lovingly designed. And it shows exactly what the fragrance is all about. Namely this pleasant freshness with that certain something. Yes, this fragrance definitely has that certain something for me, I can’t deny that. As for me, I haven’t smelled anything that smells (exactly) like "True Religion". (Isn’t that an American jeans company or something?)

Man, I really like it.

In summer, the fragrance will surely give you a little freshness kick. You lean back and think of ... ice candies. ;-) No, just kidding. Although ... that image that is often on the packaging of the candies maybe. Icebergs, a polar bear, light blue. Really cute.

Maybe that’s the reason why I also find the fragrance quite exciting in winter. Bitter cold and then this scent on top. Ice on ice. Surely not everyone’s taste, but mine.

Eva breaks up with Adam
In search of the ultimate freesia, Raspberry Queen Lolita sent me a sample of True Religion.
According to the accompanying notes, the scent is supposed to be a floral journey mixed with exotic fruits, warm and sensual. Now back from such a journey, I can confirm that the fragrance smells exactly like the female model depicted: a long-haired neo-flower-power-hippie chick who occasionally swaps her headband for a cowboy hat (it was supposed to be a journey), and who enjoys being in nature.
It's a kind of modern Eve, just without Adam. Completely emancipated, she happily nibbles on her paradisiacal fruits: bergamot, mandarins, currants, plums, and apples. And here we come to the crux of the matter. The scent is far too apple-heavy and strongly reminds me of All About Eve by Joop.
Conclusion: without the apple, I would have liked the fragrance much better. As it stands, it remains just another fruit salad scent with fresh ambitions.

Typical fruity floral, with a green note (probably the violet leaf) - not the worst and at an acceptable price.

The bottle feels much prettier than the scent. It's fruity, powdery fresh with a rubbery note. Indistinct, boring, gray...

Too fruity-penetrating with its synthetic cleaner note. Super strong and lasts forever.

I had it in 2008/9. Beautiful scent. Feminine and fresh. The stylish shabby chic/vintage bottle is especially great. Perfect as a decorative object♡

Fresh, citrusy but synthetic and gone in a flash, the bottle is a dream.

Turbo-Aquat, which relentlessly hits me with a fresh burst of bergamot. Violet underpins its fruity-cool creed.

I found it very nice - light, fresh, a bit citrusy, not too long-lasting, but that's just fine with me. The bottle is decorative!

I love the scent! Chic bottle, a more robust fragrance with a certain spiciness. Perfect for great blue jeans...just what you'd expect from a jeans brand.
