I am nice and don't hurt anyone
Ambre Imperial - a majestic amber then. With fragrance notes like tonka, vanilla, wood - nothing can really go wrong for the amber enthusiast. To get straight to the point: nothing goes wrong here, but those hoping for a real knockout or THE amber fragrance par excellence will likely be disappointed.
AI starts with a promising top note: powdery-sweet amber, underlaid with fruity accents, scattered citrus snippets, full-bodied vanilla. Those who prefer sweet amber scents like, for example, Ambre Narguilé will find this to be quite satisfying.
However, after just about 10 minutes, the rather strong, enchanting amber-vanilla-fruit scent mixture runs out of steam. Both the sweetness and the sillage noticeably recede, while woody accents timidly step in. It still smells quite pleasant, but at the same time also somewhat arbitrary, inconsequential … nice, really.
Until the end, not much happens in terms of fragrance development. AI remains a friendly, warm-soft, rather sweet scent that comes across to me as more vanilla than amber. A fragrance that doesn’t make me recoil with a wrinkled nose, but also lacks any significant recognizability. A scent from the category of “luring you into an impulsive purchase with a great top note,” only to morph shortly after leaving the perfumery into the rather faceless “I-am-nice-and-don’t-hurt-anyone fragrance” with limited sillage. Surely, there are worse fates, but with the ambitious name and the not insignificant acquisition costs, a bit more is expected.

For me, it fades after just 3 minutes, and then there's only some faint, generic scent left. But the beginning was quite promising.

... is thrown onto the market. Every quarter, there's a new quintet with at least one amber, leather, gourmand, and rose-oud thing... Trophy for your journey of suffering ;-)

You know how it goes here on P after a while. First, it's a huge hit, then it just becomes a faint breeze. This just confirms for me once again that developing a good perfume often takes years, or at least months. But the way things are today...

Well, at least I don't have to add this one to my wishlist - a sigh of relief...

Actually, it sounds quite nice. But for that price, it should be a bit more... ;)

It feels like you’ve voiced my thoughts about the scent! I also found it just "nice" and expected MUCH more in many ways. Your comment hits the nail on the head! Thanks!

Hmm - really? The pyramid sounded so nice and "extraordinaire" so enticing. What a shame. But how great that there are testing and warning noses like yours!

There's not enough that I like - and not enough else that you offer me. That's fine, it lightens my wishlist.

What a rip-off. The Precious Oud was another scam.

I do like it friendly and soft, but I don't want it to be bland either ^^ Thanks for the warning! I'm sure there are better alternatives out there.
