Sparkling-spicy Vetiver with a nice composition, rather classic
Cool-fresh start with grassy notes, bitter, peeled citrus fruit, here unusually actually quite evenly divided between lemon, grapefruit, and bergamot, as well as hints of anise. After 6-7 minutes, it suddenly gets a quite pronounced lime note, probably a result of the green notes and lemon combined, very sour, sparkling, concentrated.

This lime note is accompanied after 20-25 minutes by a noticeable, sharp pepper, more white than black, clean, tingling, the resin rather subtle and light, not sticky at all, and a delicate rose to tone down the citrus load a bit.

Unfortunately, it loses a bit of power rather quickly after 40-50 minutes, although it remains present for a long time, but for me, a bit more projection would have been more interesting. In the dry down, it then also becomes rather classic with a gentle, accompanying sandalwood, even though the heart and even the citrus notes hold on for a long time, well past 90 minutes, plus a very fresh, wet vetiver.

Overall, a very rounded, rather classic vetiver scent with a lot of sparkle, perhaps a bit too much, which might distract a bit from the name "CLASSIC Vetiver".

My Everyday Vétiver (... and that is a compliment!)
As a "beginner," I ordered a series of samples: fragrances that contained the name Vetiver in some form, because I used to like a Vetiver scent. Upon unpacking and testing them on scent strips, I was immediately taken with Le Vetiver by Lubin. In contrast, I initially found Eusersdorff's Classic Vétiver boring - somehow "typically perfumed." However, I immediately decided to apply Classic Vétiver during lunch, before starting a demanding afternoon of work with many clients, to get this test "out of the way." The surprising effect: Best concentration, balance, satisfaction, and mental freshness all afternoon long! Since then, Classic Vetiver has been a dear and reliable companion on workdays, especially on Mondays, to start the week off well: Subtle citrus freshness, a light pleasant floral note (Geranium?), a pale yellow peppery spiciness, and a clean, slightly resinous-salty grounding (woods, vetiver, patchouli?) are "my mix" for well-being on workdays, but also for leisure and movement. For me, it's not really an evening scent, but certainly suitable for going out on a free afternoon. Truly a "Gentleman."

Later, I read somewhere that Classic Vétiver is very similar to Terre d'Hermes and therefore somewhat redundant. Curious, I tested this (unknown to me until then) at an airport, and indeed: Astonishing similarity! But Terre d'Hermes had something salty-synthetic for me that I found so uncomfortable that I washed it off. I perceived "my" Classic Vétiver as "more fragrant," a touch more floral, and at the same time deeper and warmer. Red Vetiver by Montale (which was also part of my initial scent sample series) is also very similar, but a bit spicier, darker, and more complex. For those who "actually" like Terre d'Hermes and Red Vetiver but are not 100% satisfied, Classic Vétiver is a candidate for testing.

The sillage is noticeable without being overwhelming; my esteemed companion doesn't quite last through a full workday. The simple bottle is a nice understatement.

the Gentleman
When I first came across the name Von Eusersdorff, my spontaneous association was "Hamburg men's outfitter at an elevated level" - regardless of the fact that Von Eusersdorff is presented as an American fragrance manufacturer with German roots.
It seems that the Von Eusersdorffs have traveled quite a bit - there are mentions of plantations in Costa Rica and Dutch warehouses, perhaps they even visited Bethlehem, where my first encounter with a fragrance from the house led me.
Everywhere, the air was filled with the scent of herbs and flowers, spices and resins, the unmistakable olfactory characteristics of a region that the Von Eusersdorffs tried to capture and preserve.
For "Classic Vétiver," however, I am quite sure they have returned to their own roots in the cool north - no other fragrance could come closer to my associations of elegance and aristocratic dignity, of seriousness and a hint of pretentiousness than this one.

"Classic Vétiver" is far removed from all fashion, all mainstream, all zeitgeist - here the emphasis is clearly on "Classic," without veering into old-fashioned or even outdated territory.
Cool, bright, and herbaceous is the start, immediately making it clear where the direction is headed - barely identifiable as fruit, the hesperidic notes combine with hints of anise and silvery-green grasses, conjuring a very cool, distant, yet not unfriendly gentleman in my mind, reserved despite all his presence and exuding a calm serenity that seems to rise above everything.
"Classic Vétiver" develops very quickly; within just a few minutes, the slightly bitter freshness from the top is replaced by subtly peppery sharpness and dark, dry wood and resin notes, already interwoven here with majestic, somber patchouli - it comes across as very serious, very distinguished, but also very reliable, direct, and strangely trustworthy.
Our gentleman shows character and nobility that is not solely reflected in his appearance, and at the same time, almost British understatement.
In fact, lovers of traditional barbershop colognes are likely to feel very comfortable with "Classic Vétiver" - as a woman, I would prefer to experience the scent on a man rather than wear it myself.
One downside remains: Von Eusersdorff's gentleman is not particularly clingy - after a maximum of five hours, he prefers to say goodbye.

A lot of citrus, pepper, cedar and geranium for a sharp but dry and almost bitter opening. More medicinal than classic vetiver to my nose.

Spicy citrus meets gentle green vetiver. Fresh + cool. In the dry down, dry cedarwood with noble patchouli. Classic gentleman.

Lemon, grapefruit, and pepper elevate it to an almost ethereal level, almost kitsching the otherwise robust vetiver.

It smelled like this in the 70s at Karstadt and C&A in the men's section. Downtown office scent with a retirement vibe.

Woody-peppery earthy patchouli sets the tone. Vetiver plays more of a supporting role.
