Rosa corymbifera
Weleda Jardin de Vie - Rose embodies for me the natural scent of the wild dog rose.
This hardy, native wild rose species can withstand temperatures of nearly -30 degrees and grows up to 3 meters tall. The flowers are rather subtle and not very large, white in color with a delicate pink tint. Its fruits, the rose hips, can be eaten raw or dried to make tea. The wild rose is also used to breed new rose varieties. While some may consider it a bothersome weed, for me, the dog rose reflects a wild, primal beauty, and so does its scent.
Weleda has captured this scent well: a delicate rose fragrance, neither sweet nor artificial, but very natural and "wild" in effect. The rose geranium adds a hint of dry woodiness, making me think of leaves, stems, and all that greenery. And ylang-ylang adds just a touch of sweetness, just minimal enough for everything to still feel natural. Initially, it has a good sillage, but it quickly becomes close to the skin. But that's just fine. A colleague found it "very intense." The soap that goes with it is also wonderful and smells great in the bathroom. Unfortunately, it is now hard to find, and DM has removed it from their range. The bottle is rather simple and understated, which fits the scent well.
Jardin de Vie Rose is a beautiful natural rose, perfectly suitable for everyday use and has a relaxing quality to it.

Weleda Wildrose
After being 100% convinced by Agrume and Grenade, and being a big fan of Weleda products while absolutely loving the scent, I wanted to give the Weleda Rose a second chance. I really like the Wildrose series, and our son loves the soap. He tends to have neurodermatitis, and since we started using Weleda, he has been at ease. If neurodermatitis flares up on his hands again in winter, the green skin cream has worked wonders.

But back to the scent....

I like the opening less, probably because I’m not a fan of geranium. This plant is just too pungent for me. Fortunately, it loses its strength after about 10 minutes - and then the scent becomes really beautiful. It’s exactly like the Wildrose shower cream. Rosy, creamy, a bit herbaceous-green but still soft. The scent lasts about 3 hours on my skin, while it lingers much longer in my hair and on my clothes. I have to be careful with the dosage here. While I can generously spray Grenade or Agrume, I only need 3 - 4 sprays of Rose. Otherwise, the geranium becomes too intense for me.

Despite the geranium top note, I am seriously considering bringing the scent into the house. Together with the body lotion, perhaps after a shower with the Wildrose shower gel, I can imagine it being quite pleasant.

Fans of the care lines should definitely give the scents a chance and keep in mind that Weleda fragrances are specifically labeled as Eaux Naturelle Parfumée, not as EdP/EdT. They should then consider whether the criticisms regarding longevity are justified. 50ml costs €19 - I don’t think that’s much, especially considering that it uses reasonable ingredients without any chemicals. It’s nice to spritz a little more!

Edit: In the meantime, the scent has made its way into my collection, and I quickly got used to the geranium note. Especially in combination with the shower cream and body lotion, I find it simply beautiful. There are times when I don’t want to smell anything synthetic on me. Or my son reacts more with sneezing to synthetic scents. Then the Weleda products are a lovely alternative.

beautiful rose scent
This one was my favorite of the three in the line. Since I only get homeopathic doses from the citrus scent and the pomegranate scent reminds me of creams, this is the only one I can take seriously as a "perfume".
I smell sweet rose oil and along with it the slightly herbaceous, fresher rose geranium. Ylang-Ylang is very subdued. I also think I can smell a bit of vanilla. The scent develops nicely, becoming a bit warmer.

Unfortunately, the bottles are not refillable.

I might buy it for myself; for me, it would be the perfect perfume for going to bed, warm, natural, calming, I would surely dream of beautiful gardens and sunlight.

It's not a lonely little rose on the heath!
In principle, I don't write comments on scents that I spray on "en passant." So far, I've only done this once with "Casbah" by Avon, because it was still clearly noticeable on my skin after several hours of driving.
And now this is another such case.
When I saw the three test sprays of the Weleda "Jardin de Vie" in the pharmacy today, I decided to test "Jardin de Vie - Rose." I sprayed generously on my wrist up to my upper arm. I wasn't sure if there were still scent remnants from last night's test on my skin at the pulse points.
But what did I smell? A strong woody rose and an unpleasant scent of oak moss, or something similar. Too bad, I thought, there must still be something from last night, and now I have an unpleasant scent result due to unintentional layering.
So my reluctant husband had to endure a generous spray on his wrist. He looked quite suffering - or perhaps offended? "What, now I 'have' to walk around smelling like perfume?" was his remark.
But even on him, "Jardin de Vie - Rose" smelled even stronger of that strange moss-like note and also woody, even more intensely peppery-minty rose than on me.
But my husband, glad that it wasn't one of the "normal" men's fragrances but a rose scent, found "Jardin de Vie - Rose" absolutely wonderful; he liked it and still likes it.
And I thought: "Oh no, now I have to go shopping with this strange smell coming from my wrist?" I went to the washrooms and tried to wash off "Jardin de Vie - Rose."
But that wasn't possible! While drying off, "Jardin de Vie - Rose" smelled even stronger than before; only the unpleasant note for me had disappeared. "Jardin de Vie - Rose" had retained its sillage in full strength and is still quite noticeable after five hours.
In any case, after the washing attempt, I smelled the rose even more distinctly, a really strong woody-herb rose, spicy-peppery-minty. Like the scented geraniums that you can rarely buy in spring (most scented geraniums on the market smell almost only of lemon balm and lemongrass). And as I see here now: The intense floral scent not directly related to the rose, with a slight scratchiness, is contributed by ylang-ylang.
Meanwhile, the rose has receded more into the background for me. A pleasant bitter, spicy-woody scent blend with rose is still clearly perceptible. "Jardin de Vie - Rose" has also matched my husband's scent-wise, only it is weaker on his skin.
"Jardin de Vie - Rose" sketches for me a lush summer garden where roses bloom and mints release their scent in the heat, where wood and resin smell, and other flowers exhale their essential oils.
The price of the bottle in the pharmacy on special offer was quite reasonable.
But I resisted the temptation and did not buy "Jardin de Vie - Rose" after we finished our everyday shopping.
Even with an inexpensive fragrance, I tend not to make impulse purchases.
However, everyone who loves rose scents should test "Jardin de Vie - Rose" when they have the chance. An interesting and well-made fragrance with an intense bitter rose note
In my opinion, "Jardin de Vie - Rose" is truly a unisex fragrance, as stated above.

Wild Rose in the Dunes
For years, we have been going on vacation to a place on the west coast of Schleswig Holstein. Lovingly referred to as the largest sandbox in Germany, this place was also the filming location for a teen series 20 years ago. We watched the filming and even we parents became fans of the series. Since my daughter no longer comes along, we go there in May and September. At the beginning of the month, I was there again.

Just a quick stop at R. to pick up what I didn't want to carry from home. On the shelf with the fragrances, I found two from Weleda, and they were on sale. It was just before Mother's Day. I quickly sprayed some Jardin de Vie - Rose, and it felt like I was walking down a dune path full of wild roses. Pure wild roses, that's this scent. The opening is rose with a bit of geranium, which takes away the sweetness of the wild rose and makes it a bit more robust. You have to like this scent. I like it. The geranium quickly weakens and makes way for ylang-ylang. Now everything was right for me. Longevity for me was about 3-4 hours. The farewell gradually became weaker. A few days later, the first wild roses bloomed, and we walked the aforementioned dune path. Weleda has captured the scent perfectly. Those who like rose fragrances and prefer something not too cloyingly sweet will be very satisfied with this scent. It does not overwhelm the surroundings like some artificial rose fragrances do.

Two days later, I bought the scent for myself. Now with a green label, which according to a saleswoman means that the item is being discontinued. She didn't know if only R. was no longer carrying the item, if a different packaging was coming, or if Weleda was discontinuing the scent altogether. So I bought everything that was there, namely three bottles.

Maybe even too authentic wild rose. Leaves little room for imagination. A documentary is not a feature film.
(still beautiful)

After a lush geranium top note, with leaves and stems, Weleda Wild Rose pure - strong and long-lasting on fabric/hair, soft on skin.

For me, this is a bitter-floral, slightly herbal mono-geranium. There are only very few roses here. A scent for aromatherapy.

At first, I'm shocked by a disgusting pig's blood smell, but after about 15 minutes, it gives way to a lovely, naturally beautiful rose.

Absolutely lovely natural rose perfume, reminds me a lot of White Rose by Floris. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available or restockable.

I like rose and know the natural scent of it. I can't with the Weleda perfume. The fragrances have an added smell that ruins the scent for me.

Natural roses like in the body lotion, geranium and ylang come through only briefly at first, then it becomes fresh-ethereal. A great pick-me-up in the morning!

The typical Weleda (or generally natural cosmetics) scent... I don't like it in creams and don't need it as a fragrance either!

Smells like rose scent mixed with Autan. Unfortunately, it's even a bit sharper than Autan.

Very natural vintage rose scent, reminds me of Tea Rose from Body Shop. Pure natural rose, no frills or fuss.
