Weleda Wildrose
After being 100% convinced by Agrume and Grenade, and being a big fan of Weleda products while absolutely loving the scent, I wanted to give the Weleda Rose a second chance. I really like the Wildrose series, and our son loves the soap. He tends to have neurodermatitis, and since we started using Weleda, he has been at ease. If neurodermatitis flares up on his hands again in winter, the green skin cream has worked wonders.
But back to the scent....
I like the opening less, probably because I’m not a fan of geranium. This plant is just too pungent for me. Fortunately, it loses its strength after about 10 minutes - and then the scent becomes really beautiful. It’s exactly like the Wildrose shower cream. Rosy, creamy, a bit herbaceous-green but still soft. The scent lasts about 3 hours on my skin, while it lingers much longer in my hair and on my clothes. I have to be careful with the dosage here. While I can generously spray Grenade or Agrume, I only need 3 - 4 sprays of Rose. Otherwise, the geranium becomes too intense for me.
Despite the geranium top note, I am seriously considering bringing the scent into the house. Together with the body lotion, perhaps after a shower with the Wildrose shower gel, I can imagine it being quite pleasant.
Fans of the care lines should definitely give the scents a chance and keep in mind that Weleda fragrances are specifically labeled as Eaux Naturelle Parfumée, not as EdP/EdT. They should then consider whether the criticisms regarding longevity are justified. 50ml costs €19 - I don’t think that’s much, especially considering that it uses reasonable ingredients without any chemicals. It’s nice to spritz a little more!
Edit: In the meantime, the scent has made its way into my collection, and I quickly got used to the geranium note. Especially in combination with the shower cream and body lotion, I find it simply beautiful. There are times when I don’t want to smell anything synthetic on me. Or my son reacts more with sneezing to synthetic scents. Then the Weleda products are a lovely alternative.
