Black IV Widian 2015

AJ Arabia has always fascinated me. Oriental fragrances in general. I have already been able to test some. A few were allowed to stay. At first, I was particularly taken by the AJ "Gold Collection - II" with its almost innocent, creamy DNA. Playful and seemingly shy.

Now, "Black Collection - IV" presents itself in a similar way. However, after the very feminine-associated opening, it gains in sensuality. On all levels. It brings a beautiful sandalwood note very early on, with such captivating smokiness, organically woven into the creamy DNA, that it makes the senses dance. The "threatened" gourmand fruitiness remains very vague, which is why the fragrance is absolutely unisex wearable - and looking at the pyramid, it is not a gourmand at all. The leather promised in the base note reveals itself more as a very distant, white, soft suede. Subtle and hardly present or dominant. Nothing here is even remotely dark or creaky. Everything is dreamily affectionate, with occasionally very clear fluttering of the eyelashes.

Widian himself describes his fragrance as the first approach and acquaintance of lovers, full of restrained desire and eroticism. So be it. If you set aside all the marketing, I can recommend this fragrance to anyone who also has Gold II on their list or in their collection. A very beautifully creamy oriental that wants to do more than just play, but is never intrusive. Longevity and sillage are above average, and the fragrance characteristic for me is more smoky-oriental-sweet than floral.
