Love at Second Sniff
After having owned the "Tony Iommi Monkey Special | XerJoff" for a year now and it still being my absolute favorite fragrance, I must dedicate my first review to it.
Before I got to smell it for the first time, the scent notes already intrigued me. A passion fruit that has fallen into rum and has been wiped with leather. Accompanying this is a sensual vanilla, caramel, and a hint of cinnamon.
So it was clear that I had to test this fragrance.
In a perfumery, I was finally able to try the scent. After the first spray, disappointment set in. Unfortunately, I didn't like the scent. Yes, it is something special, something I have never smelled before. But it was not a fragrance I was convinced by.
Internally, I had thus given up on the scent and realized it wouldn’t be for me, no matter how intriguing I found the composition of the scent notes.
A few weeks later, I was in a perfumery again, and there it was once more. The Tony Iommi, and I decided to give it another chance. So I applied the fragrance to my wrist and waited. Initially, it was again a disappointment. On the way back to the car, however, came the surprise. I had a scent in my nose the whole time that was so unique and so beautiful.
That was the moment when this fragrance became my absolute favorite.
As time went on, the scent always showed a different face. One never had the feeling that the scent remained the same; it constantly changed its aura.
As mentioned before, I have not smelled any fragrance that even remotely resembles the Tony Iommi. The opening begins with a beautiful rum note and a very fruity sweet passion fruit that perfectly complements the rum. Later on, a leather accord with a hint of cinnamon comes into play.
Throughout its development, it never smells the same and has many different phases that can be perceived throughout the day.
The longevity is outstanding. After applying it in the morning, you could still smell it late in the evening. And all that with just two sprays.
I don’t need to say much about the bottle. The presentation is Xerjoff-like, simply what you expect in this price range, and the bottle is really beautifully designed.
Overall, I can summarize that this fragrance is a truly wonderful dark and sweet scent for autumn/winter and for going out.
