Wow...just wow!
Greetings, dear perfumas and perfumos !
After reviewing my first fragrance from Casamorati's XerJoffs range earlier, I thought I'd continue with this equally wonderful scent from the same house. I've been meaning to do this review for a while now and it's finally the turn of the hype-beast Tony Iommi Monkey Special !
As you can probably tell from my headline, I'm really taken with this wonderful XerJoff creation.
XerJoff has really outdone himself again with this fragrance! The Monkey Special is one of those fragrances where after the first spray I thought to myself "This is exactly the scent I've always dreamed of"...if you know what I mean.
I particularly like the opening of this fragrance. Sweet passion fruit and a good load of rum, really "boozy" at the beginning. This "booziness" at the beginning almost gives the fragrance a sweet, gourmand note. This red thread remains subtle but persists until the base of caramel, vanilla and tonka bean.
And it is precisely this "booziness" that initially gives the Monkey Special a slight resemblance to Parfums de Marly's "Oajan".
Later on, the fragrance becomes really rough, darker, dirtier - a rock star fragrance - but at the very highest level. A really beautiful, dark patchouli with plenty of leathery notes. Plus the really beautiful, sweet, warm base...this fragrance is simply gorgeous.
The Monkey Special definitely makes its wearer stand out from the crowd. It also gives you that bad boy character. Another really spectacular creation by XerJoff, a true masterpiece that definitely comes close to other masterpieces like Naxos. What I also find quite nice is that it has a goth vibe with these almost dark, dirty patchouli notes and in my opinion is also a fragrance that I could imagine on a vampire. I don't know why, but somehow I just love these dark, gloomy vampire fragrances.
Longevity and sillage are very strong. VERY STRONG. Only 2-4 sprays are enough to leave a sick cloud of scent behind you. Nevertheless, in my opinion, this is a fragrance that you can definitely take a few more sprays of, as it is strong and sexy, but I wouldn't describe it as obtrusive in a negative sense, only in a positive one ;)
The bottle and packaging are even more striking, even by XerJoff standards. The beautiful box made of black leather, plus the insanely beautiful bottle in silver-grey/metallic with the elaborate decorations - simply top! Anyone who gives this less than 9 is really beyond help.
Also a price-performance monster. Yes, it's not cheap. Especially not the 100 ml version, which I also own for the proud price of 395 euros, BUT you get something for your money. Starting with the packaging, to the noble bottle par excellence, to the fragrance, which is not only OUTSTANDING but also a true H/S monster.
I can only recommend this fragrance! More than lives up to the hype!
