Crisp and summery; jasmine infused tea
I have only recently become a tea drinker, and during this period of change, I've begun to enjoy the scent of tea in fragrances.

Escale a Pondichery, while not as strong as Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Rouge, is highlighted and softened by delicious citrus notes and jasmine.

I'm so glad that this fragrance is not harsh. The thought of tea and lemon made me cringe at first, but this blend is nothing to fear. It's so pleasant and refreshing that I could picture myself wearing this. In fact, one of my favourite Summer scents last year was Moschino Funny! which is slightly similar in terms of a tea note blended with citrus and floral notes.

This is a very sophisticated scent, with a suprisingly moderate amount of sillage and great lasting strength. The lady with the sun hat in the advertisement sums up this fragrance perfectly. It's Summery, crisp and classy.

It sparkles with vitality and youthfulness, however this fragrance is not for little girls. It is a pity that this fragrance is becoming harder and harder to find over the last few months.

Cool breeze on a hot summer day
Escale a Pondichery is like a summer breeze on a hot day - refreshing, cooling and carefree. There is a class and quality in this fragrance. And though the composition is not complicated, it does not smell cheap or boring. The gentle tea note mixes lovely with a delicate slice of lemon and hint of cardamom. Nothing is overdone here; the scent is light and breezy to perfection. The feeling that I get from this fragrance is of a quiet beach on a clear summer day with strong cool winds coming from the depth of the ocean and hot waves of sun from overhead. Dior did manage to create a lovely coastal landscape with this scent without going into salty aquatic territory. And when I look at gorgeous pictures of Pondicherry city located in India on the Bay of Bengal, I do think that the scent captures the vacation destination quite nicely.

I love tea fragrances and Escale a Pondichery is one of my favorites. The tea note dominates the scent right from the start. In the opening there is a lovely addition of lemon and I think a bit of bergamot. The spices are just enough in the heart to give it a slight kick. There is a very gentle floral tone to the heart but if I did not see the jasmine as a note, I would not guess it. There is absolutely nothing indolic about the jasmine note in this fragrance. It is quite refreshing and light here. The wood base is serene and pleasant. The sillage is noticeable but light. The longevity is medium. I like to re-apply throughout a day.

Overall score 8.5/10. Lovely tea fragrance with lots of class and excellent quality. I use it a lot in summer time and definitely recommend.

When Enemies Suddenly Become Friends
When I stand in front of the Dior shelf & finally want to finish testing the Escales, I never have two things: internet on my phone & a clue which one I'm still missing. They are too similar in scent, appearance, and name, and I always leave too big gaps between the tests :/. Luckily, I chose Pondichery, an unknown offshoot of the Cruises line for me. Once again, I was not disappointed; once again, it is a fine summer fragrance. But again, it is not an absolute standout. The line definitely needs a highlight that I have not yet discovered. I would love to have Ellena design a new Escale...

Pondichery starts simple & dreamy. It remains simple the whole time, but loses its dreaminess over time. At the beginning, there is an icy lemon, similar to the new Dior Homme Cologne, combined with a tamed jasmine. And although this is my floral nemesis - a great start. Then, as expected, it loses its citrus notes, becoming drier, more floral, much more feminine & annoying. Because even though the jasmine here is bearable, even with fine facets - I can imagine something more beautiful when it is pure & unmasked. The beginning excited me so much that I would almost suggest it as a wedding fragrance for a woman - but the subsequent development made me abandon that thought. It is definitely a nice fragrance for any weekend trip, it even reminds me a bit of Teazzura!

Bottle: handy, high-quality, simple - that's how bottles should be!
Sillage: delicate like a flower just before blooming
Longevity: not a strength of the Escales - 3-4 hours with goodwill

Conclusion: first wow, then ok, later quickly yawn... still, for its simple way of making jasmine appealing to me, it deserves praise!

I knew it: Lemon
Top note: Lemon, tea leaves (black & green tea)
Heart note: Cardamom, jasmine
Base note: Sandalwood

Since the notes above are not what I predominantly smelled, I had to look it up briefly and lo and behold, the lemon is really there (and "spices," which I can't quite place). The lemon is very assertive at first, but now after 2 hours, it does exactly what I wish for it; it adds the finishing touch and gives everything a kick of freshness! The tea leaves are very pleasant, I would say mostly green tea.

My scent impression: fresh, zesty, summery, green, citrusy
Only downside: it smells a bit soapy

Pondichery is supposed to represent an "oriental freshness" --> Fresh YES; Oriental NO

Very helpful Review 4
The little brother of Eau Sauvage EdT.....
......with sandy-colored curls. And a lightly spiced interior. It is very friendly and jovial. And "he" sometimes behaves like a slick vacuum cleaner salesman, then shifts to the manner of "Aunt Clothilde" the Strict.
A strange mix of opposing scent impressions that also create contrasting moods.
On one side, Escale à Pondichéry is led by "strict" Tea Time top notes that run throughout the entire fragrance journey, while on the other hand, there is a convincing "chatter" of jasmine, which in its "eloquence" is quite impressive.
And there is also this spice, cardamom, which reminds one of the joviality of Eau Sauvage Eau de Toilette, yes, it is even very similar to it at this stage.
Due to the "sandy-colored curls" of sandalwood, the fragrance also convinces with a vaguely "hippie-like" zest for life and lightness of being.
"Escale à Pondichéry" is indeed "only" a light summer Eau de Toilette, but it impresses me with its remarkable adaptability.

Pleasant freshener with lots of citrus and a hint of flowers. Longevity and sillage are average. A lovely summer scent!

What a lovely lemon, sparkling summer scent, invigorating, fresh. The gray sky is already brighter... H + S rather mediocre...

A body.
Wrapped in white sheets.
Over it a hint of black tea.
A few drops of lemon.
Intrusive freshness that lingers.
