Sunny intermezzo
Out of pure frustration with this never-ending poor weather, I bought a number of colognes hoping that somehow it will magically lead to a chance to wear them - read sunny weather.

As I picked up my parcel from the shop the weather did seem, well, let’s say acceptable. I’ll take it! Time to wear Escale à Portofino immediately.

It turned out a brief moment of joy and flashbacks to summer vacations in the Mediterranean. Thanks to the dominant petitgrain-neroli notes. They provide a mildly bitter citrus-freshness of decent quality and typically short duration.

In all fairness, Escale à Portofino is not unique in that sense. It doesn’t really stand out from the numerous perfumes in the Mediterranean genre. Nevertheless a pleasant scent and guaranteed to induce some summer vibes. Just what I needed today.

Refined and zesty citrus
Dior's Escale a Portofino, is in my opinion the essential Summer fragrance. Citrusy, pleasantly fresh and full of vitality, this fragrance has me thoroughly impressed.

This fragrance is similar in some instances to the classic 4711 Eau de Cologne, however Escale a Portofino is much more feminine and sparkling.

The spicyness is very subtle to my nose, barely there in fact. I get more citruses and woods than spice in Escale a Portofino.

The scent opens with Sicilian lemon, bergamot and petit grain, which makes for a very bright and energetic opening. Thankfully the lemon in this fragrance doesn't turn sour on the skin or remind me of dishwashing liquid.

This fragrance does indeed have a rather masculine quality, which is brought about by the juniper berries, cedarwood and caraway. In my opinion, Escale a Portofino is perfectly unisex.

Its simplicity is very appealing to me, however this fragrance doesn't last to well. About 2-3 hours was all I could manage to get out of Escale a Portofino which was a shame. Apart from the poor lasting power, Escale a Portofino would make a wonderful casual and refreshing scent for the warmer months.

Dior Citrus
A wonderful clear, green citrus, that mellows into mediteranean florals. Very uplifting and classy. Lovely for summer, but I also like to wear this in January for my post Christmas detox!

Escale to porto insectico
tested at the Sephora de Bellecour in Lyon, I had a lot of trouble finding this reference in France.

I was looking for a cologne and a light, fresh perfume for my lady with this summer seeming to drag on.

I am very happy to have been able to test it in the presence of Madame, it will save me from giving her a bad gift. we didn't like this perfume at all.

It looks like an eau de Cologne mixed with insecticide, it's really repulsive. A sort of blue sapphire in a lighter version and mixed with eau de cologne.

Fortunately the sillage is light and the hold weak, this avoids prolonging this bad experience.

I advise you not to buy it blindly.

Unisex and classy
Unisex and refreshing scent.

Tends to be more feminine because it has a sweetness due to the almond (which i really enjoy).

Lasting power and projection is average, and sillage is great. Definetely worth it!

When outside it's very hot and you imagine the sea and a mediterranean landscape....just spray this scent! It's a citrusy-aromatic symphony
