Wonderful, elegant all-rounder

I first came across this fragrance at the YSL stand in a shopping center in Zurich. As I had some time on my hands and YSL Tuxedo was one of my absolute favorite fragrances at the time, I smelled my way through half of the Le Vestiaire des Parfums range. Rue de L'Université was the only one that left a lasting impression on me and I would have loved to take a bottle straight away. However, as the fragrance is only available in a 125ml size and I was flying to Spain two days later with only hand luggage, a sample had to suffice.

Arriving in Spain, outside temperature at a pleasant 25°C, I could hardly get enough of the fragrance, even though, as always, I had a selection of bottlings of my favorites with me. In my opinion, Rue de L'Université is really very versatile, but contrary to local opinion, I think it suits summer best.

The fragrance is not too overpowering and the individual notes are really beautifully coordinated. The fragrance profile can certainly be described as creamy, but without being boring. It is certainly not a particularly exciting fragrance, the progression is fairly linear and I would describe the fragrance profile as transparent to a certain extent. But that is exactly what makes this fragrance for me. It doesn't overwhelm and doesn't inspire with umpteen different notes, but instead with an incredibly beautifully coordinated composition.

The longevity is excellent and the sillage is also very good for this fragrance in my opinion. It is definitely present, but it does not roar.

In summary, as mentioned in the title, this fragrance is a wonderful all-rounder for me that exudes a certain elegance without being overbearing.
