Libre Le Parfum Yves Saint Laurent 2022

The Queen of the Libre collection
The cremiest, sweetest and most feminine of the Libre line. I wasn't all that impressed by the original, it was too much of a clean, laundry-fresh scent for me, but Le Parfum and Intense are beautiful perfumes. Not a big surprise for me, as I generally tend to enjoy the night-timey, wintery flankers of designer fragrances more than the pillars (but of course there are exceptions to the rule!).
This is still unmistakably a Libre flanker. The signature accord of orange blossom, bright vanilla and lavender is still there. The lavender is more clearly defined and shows a little bit more of its herbal facet than in the original, but less than in the Intense version. The vanilla is stronger and warmer, and while I don't smell a lot of honey here, I think the honey note plays a crucial role in warming up the base. It makes the scent sweeter, deeper and not as sterile as the original can be.
The saffron and ginger are very subtle, so this is not a spicy scent. I think I can smell a bit of ginger, it adds a hint of bracing freshness to balance the sweeter notes, but I honestly wouldn't have thought of ginger if I never saw the notes list.
I get beautiful wafts from this, they almost smell better than the scent directly on the skin. The longevity is good, too.
For a long time I was craving to have a Libre flanker, but couldn't decide between Intense and Le Parfum. It doesn't help that they're quite similar to each other. After testing them again and again, I finally went for this beauty, I just found it a bit more fitting for myself.
I think I'll wear this on many occasions around the year, except of course in the heights of summer.
