Sandal spice, classic-modern...
I dug this relatively unknown fragrance out of my "treasure trove" once again, as I hadn't written a review about it yet. But its richness definitely makes it worth devoting more than just a brief, casual sniff to it.
It can certainly keep up with the good designers, both in terms of quality, durability and radiance.
But what does it smell like, this "Cyrus", whose name makes me think of a Roman legionnaire?
It starts off fruity, bright and spicy, transparently green with a good pinch of pepper. These notes also accompany what follows until almost the end of the finish. But herbs appear first, a delicate and powerful duet of artemisia and tarragon. Some aromatic, resinous pine and a delicate jasmine note, accompanied by lavender. Here, the classical clearly merges with the moderately modern, but there is no "break" because everything happens fluidly. Oscillation in the "temporal" is included, which makes it very interesting and sophisticated. Then sandalwood clearly creeps in, it smells delicate and at the same time strong, its tone resembles that of real sandalwood. It is framed by base notes such as amber, patchouli and cedarwood, which are always "transmuted". The spiciness of the herbs is now in the background, but has never completely disappeared.
The best thing about "Cyrus" is that it is independent and not a copy or twin of other fragrances. Slight similarities cannot be ruled out entirely, but that is a coincidence - or due to the nose that interprets it. A VERY GOOD one, this "Cyrus"!
