A sleepy little chipmunk in an autumn forest
This is neither a nutty gourmand nor an animalic fragrance. It's just a very soft woody and balsamic scent with accents of hazelnut. It really feels very autumnal and natural, like you could wear it on a walk through the fallen leaves and feel at one with your surroundings. Crushing dry leaves, earth and slightly creamy guaiac, cedar and oak. Pure fresh hazelnuts and a resinous base. Benzoin saves the fragrance from turning too dry and gives it some gentle sweetness. This is not a very sweet scent though, I sense no hidden sugary or gourmandish notes beyond what's listed.
What I really appreciate about this is the softness of the woods and spices. At times woody fragrances can be scratchy and cliché-masculine, but this is completely smooth and gender neutral. In this regard it's very fitting for the cute little chipmunk.
This is an easy to wear fragrance with a light sillage that won't offend anyone, unlike some other Zoologists. It would be a good match for outfits in earthy tones, a warm sweater and a big scarf. The scent gets better when it warms up on the skin and the balsamic warmth unfolds, really cozy.
I'm missing a little something though: The high energy these tiny rodents posses in real life. This is such a quiet scent, like the chipmunk is relaxing, sleeping or even hibernating in its burrow full of nuts and leaves that it built underground. The light calming chamomile note only adds to that. I don't really get the quince and mandarin notes, and I think that some fruits in this forest would have made the fragrance more lively, completing the image of a real living chipmunk that is moving around to collect nuts.
