Chipmunks meets Cinderella
One of the most beautiful filmed fairy tales of my childhood was "Three Nuts for Cinderella" - I don't know how many times I saw it. To this day, it's always on TV at Christmas. My daughter never wanted to watch that, then rather Barbie "The Twelve Hopping Princesses" and the "Chipmunks".......lost at sea and stranded on an island........always someone screaming Alvin.......and those distorted voices singing. So beautiful is different. But there's no arguing about taste. She fands great, has sung along fervently and was happy.

Chipmunk from Zoologist pleases me. Starts fruity, slightly peppery and is well spiced with nutmeg and cardamom. And then the hazelnut comes through very nicely, not the green one, but the roasted one. I love nuts in fragrances. Also the woodsy comes through, a coniferous forest.Towards the back out it becomes minimally animalic and powdery. But really just a touch. The guaiac wood pushes the nut, I think, because nuts have a subtle roasted aroma.
The whole scent is a whiff, but the longevity is better than sillage. This chipmunk I like, even if he does not radiate so. My nose hangs then just on the wrist.

Similar fragrances for me are Fat Electrician and Noir Exquis.

Nutella jar in the hutch?
I like the concept behind the Zoologist fragrances. I have also liked some good in the past, but unfortunately you all had a big shortcoming for me: they are much too strong for me.
That can be a fragrance with the theme of an elephant or rhinoceros now really resent, they are also quite imposing animals.
A squirrel scent, on the other hand, sounded pretty promising in my mind. A small animal, nimble, shy, soft, with a comfortable bed and of course a good helping of nuts.

I think that was perfectly realized. That's why I do not really understand the voices that the scent is not loud enough, I think it fits wonderfully to this animal just not so big and to be a little intrusive.
In fact, the fragrance lasts forever on me, just with a rather delicate sillage.

The top note is still a bit fidgety. I smell a lot of nutmeg, some pink pepper and something fresh-fruity, which could be the quince.
That dissipates relatively quickly, and in place of the Zappeligen creaminess, the chipmunk has made himself comfortable.
Briefly, you might think someone left an open Nutella jar in the pantry, but even that association remains gentle and blends well with the other notes.
I almost wished for more nuttiness from other nuts, but that might have been too much.
The scent has a bit of sweetness, but thankfully only as an extra. The first fiddle plays a creamy-gourmandig-woody impression.
On fabric and paper strips I could later smell a distinct animalic and patchouli, on the skin the heart notes last much longer with me, the base mixes in a bit, but does not take over.

A brave fragrance in the respect of breaking out of some expectations in favor of the concept. I find him very successful. Should there ever be a second version, I would perhaps like a little more forest and wet earth and a little less pantry.

Stock-keeping in autumn
Do you hear the rustling over there in the pile of leaves? A cheerful whistle comes out of an accumulation of freshly fallen leaves. A chipmunk in search of food hides underneath. It is happy about the multitude of seeds and nuts it has already found, eager to bring them to its food chamber in time. With nimble paws, it stuffs as many goods as possible into its cheeks and scurries away. In no time at all it swirls through the leaves and disappears into a well-hidden hole in the ground. With such a high success rate, it will be very easy for Charlene Chipmunk to earn her badge in collecting.

Chipmunk is calm and cozy. Cardamom and nutmeg combine to create warm, spicy nut flavors, which form the main theme for this autumn woody fragrance. With the tart nutshells, the ground squirrel lures us from the branches of the forest into its tunnel system and prepares for its winter rest with us. We are happily offered a resting place in the sleeping chamber, which is gratefully accepted. The sleeping chamber was carefully lined with aromatic barks by the agile rodent. Equipped in this way, the fragrance fulfills its purpose and offers us an autumn forest with a rich supply of nuts to nibble on. Just like the animal itself is generally depicted, chipmunk is cute and easy to like. Its scent is ultimately a trusting companion for the most colorful season.

creatures you wouldn’t want to meet in the dark
Zoologist's Chipmunk is a chipmunk who is a CEO of some mega-corporation that is actually a front for some shadowy organization which has been around for centuries and whose fanatical leadership is trying to open up a portal to another world and bring forth a demon god whose emergence on earth will usher in the end times. By which I mean it’s a cool, woodsy forest breeze, and something that smells earthy and dry, like the metallic tang of cold rocks, and of the nocturnal furry musk of creatures you wouldn’t want to meet in the dark. There’s nothing warm or sweet or cute or chipmunk-cheeked about it. It smells…ominous, somehow. These are oddly hollow woods, cursed woods, silent and strange wherein a twitchy-tailed, beady-eyed, rodent cyborg chipmunk is conducting a mandatory board meeting of imminent doom.

Nutty, woody, spicy blend---well-blended, interesting, yet comforting
The most recent release from Zoologist is Chipmunk, fittingly a nut-heavy composition that has woody, fruity, and slightly spicy/animalic accords, as well, fostering the habitat and diet of the rodent subject, looking sharply uniformed in the house’s signature artwork. It instantly feels pretty harmonious, with balance among the hazelnut and spices, most importantly, with just the touches of fruit (quince), and a sort of oaky feeling throughout, and I’m impressed at how restrained it is but that it involves some bold, interesting touches. It definitely has a very blended effect, without many of the individual spices and other notes being all that distinguishable, the hazelnut being the main standout, but relatively subtle when compared to, say, a note like coconut that would usually announce itself more loudly.

Overall, though, Chipmunk is among the more understated offerings from the house, even with its wealth of interesting notes, yet it performs pretty well and feels niche and somehow off the beaten path, even though its main elements are familiar and comforting.

Chipmunk is priced at the standard $165 for 60ml in extrait concentration and is sold by great boutiques like Perfumology, which sells samples, as well as the house site, which also sells a 10ml travel spray for $45.

I’m quite impressed with this recent release. Congrats to Victor Wong and his team for another lovely addition to the house. I might have to nab a bottle.

Rich, nutty, spicy, sweet & woody. Lovely, comfortable & homey. Sadly, extrait $$$ but performs like an EdT. I named the chipmunk Claire.

After a juicy, fruity-spicy opening, this warm and creamy/sweet spicy-woody Fall fragrance, settles to a smooth, resinous earthy-woody base.

It is woody, nutty and sweet. It has the "Bois farine" vibes, yet it is unique.
