Lyn Harris in Floral Ecstasy…..
Lyn Harris' signature is always unmistakable……as is the case with BIEN AIMÉE…..
As can be easily recognized, BIEN AIMÉE is a very floral fragrance…….
Right from the start, a delicate violet flutters around the nose….nestled in bright green and accented with a light splash of lemon - for freshness………the lilac, which is perceptible with a slight delay, smells wonderfully authentic and emphasizes the spring-like atmosphere of the top note……
While the opening presents itself as quite fresh and unsweetened, the heart note increasingly contributes floral sweetness…..
Jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang now come more and more to the forefront, creating the familiar white floral atmosphere……however, in typical Lyn Harris fashion…..so not dense, fleshy, and overwhelming, but - thanks to fine musk notes - airy and transparent………as airy and transparent as is only possible with white florals…..
Meanwhile, "spring" has transformed into "summer"…..everything is in full bloom and radiates in magnificent beauty…….
Gradually, the iris announces itself…..an elegant and unsweetened iris……..the fragrance becomes softer and more powdery…….
As a stabilizing base note, cedar has been chosen……a good choice…..
The already present floral sweetness of the white florals could have quickly tipped into unpleasantness with additional resinous sweetness or spicy sweetness in the base……
Thus, cedar is perfectly chosen…….
And to my great delight, this cedar is neither sharp nor artificial, but soft-woody and restrained…….probably thanks also goes to the fine musk notes that always waft through the fragrance like a gentle breeze…….
I am convinced that lovers of floral fragrances could find a true gem here……
Personally, I find the sweetness of the flowers a bit too much……I must, however, add that my tolerance for any sweetness is also extraordinarily low…….regardless of whether it is floral sweetness, resinous sweetness, spicy sweetness, fruity sweetness, or sugary sweetness……..
