Warm fig branch in a cashmere scarf
My first encounter with Clifton was completely unplanned. I had never heard of the fragrance or the brand and was simply given a bottle as a gift. I sprayed it on my skin without looking at the fragrance notes beforehand and was immediately struck by an intense green fig.
To be honest, this opening unsettled me for a moment. The fig was so present that I didn't immediately know whether the fragrance would really suit me. Very green and a little earthy (?)
But after a short time, everything became softer. The fig faded into the background and a gentle, very pleasant cardamom note came through. Not a sweet, spicy cardamom like in pastries, but a light, almost floating accord, very calm and soft.
Later, when I looked up the fragrance notes, I could also detect the peach. Some compared it to peach sparkling wine, but for me that doesn't quite apply. I don't sense any effervescence or citrus notes. For me, Clifton feels more like a thin, soft cashmere scarf, warm, light and enveloping.
After the intense start, what remains is a quiet, elegant fragrance that blends wonderfully into everyday life.
I think Clifton is a wonderful fragrance for mild weather, like spring or early fall. Whether it's warm and cozy enough for winter, I don't know yet. Nor do I know how it will behave on very hot days. But at the moment it accompanies me in the evenings in a very pleasant, enveloping way.
