Warm ambery fig
Fruity, alcohol/astringent opening that settles into a creamy, comforting, sandalwood scent that is certainly a little reminiscent of Gris Charnel with the powdery iris. I’d say the amber note in this adds a bit of warm roundness that’s nice, but idk if you’d need both, especially with the price points.

Warmer Fig Branch in a Cashmere Scarf
My first encounter with Clifton was completely unplanned. I had neither heard of the fragrance nor the brand and simply received a sample as a gift. I sprayed it on my skin without looking at the notes beforehand, and immediately an intense green fig greeted me.

To be honest, this opening briefly unsettled me. The fig was so present that I wasn't sure if the scent really suited me. Very green and a bit earthy (?)

But after a short time, everything softened. The fig stepped back a bit, and a gentle, very pleasant cardamom note came through. Not sweet, spicy cardamom like in pastries, but a bright, almost ethereal accord, very calm and soft.

Later, when I read the fragrance notes, I could also perceive the peach. Some compared it to peach sparkling wine, but that doesn't quite resonate with me. I don't feel any zestiness, no citrus hints. Clifton feels more like a thin, soft cashmere scarf, warm, light, enveloping.

After the intense start, a quiet, elegant scent remains, which integrates wonderfully into everyday life.

I think Clifton is a wonderful fragrance for mild weather, like spring or early autumn. Whether it is warm and cozy enough for winter, I do not yet know. Just as little do I know how it behaves on very hot days. But at the moment, it accompanies me in the evenings in a very pleasant, enveloping way.

Waves of Sound
Admittedly, the bottle is stylish and evokes many beautiful vacation days. A quiet beach, lonely and deserted. Somewhere on a small island. There is nothing but the sound of the waves and this scent on warm tanned skin, caressed by a lukewarm breeze. It could be so lovely..

But Clifton is not what one associates with such a scene. The image does not match the content. It has nothing to do with the sea or a true summer vibe. Rather, for me, it is a cheap peach sparkling wine that over time develops a very bitter note. Everything is saturated with a greasy, almost lard-like note of indefinable flowers, coated with vanilla and dry cinnamon. The scent clings to the body, leaving hardly any room to breathe. There is no development, no finesse, no depth. Thoughts are blinded by sheer shrillness. The peach sparkling wine sits like a lump in the throat and allows a not to be underestimated note of alcohol to seep from every pore of the body.

Totally unattractive and unsexy! Connections that do not fit at all and do not develop in the slightest. They remain stagnant. I associate the scent with the cheap peach sparkling wine from Penny, where I later thought that I wouldn’t even dip my feet in it. Clifton creates exactly this image, and that is why it is, for me, one of the scents in 2024 that truly repelled me.

Longevity and sillage are quite strong, and you smell it for a long time. Unfortunately, not to my pleasure.

Sun Over Cape Town
Clifton opens with a creamy delicate peach and a ripe sweet fig. I am enveloped by tonka and vanilla, the soft sandalwood makes me float over the warm sandy beaches of Cape Town. The milky ambered iris note lets me feel the evening sun on my skin - this summer evening is forever!

Cris Charnel similar? Never! For me, it's a sweet hairspray scent that bites terribly in the nose. What is this? All mixed together.

Dreamily beautiful! Lemon-creamy Gris Charnel notes, simply melting. My new summer favorite.

The herbaceous-green, resinous creaminess of fig is mixed here with floral sunscreen. Does that go together? It does! Curious.

The peach opening is insane
The scent settles (unfortunately too quickly) on a warm, amber-tonka base
Still a summer dream

Beautiful ripe fig with a hint of citrus, a touch of floral, underlined by warm, soothing tonka - a feel-good scent not just for home. :)

Creamy, but otherwise way too sweet. I like creamy, but I don't like too sweet. So no. No way.

Fleeting peach, fleshy fig sprinkled with spicy cardamom … what remains is very similar to Gris Charnel and thus not for me.

Initially a clear resemblance to Gris Charnel Eau de Parfum later too synthetic, cloying, intrusive.
