Clove-Oriental with a Dark Base
I recently went hunting for fragrances at a flea market, and at a private stand, I struck gold.
A large, flat glass bowl filled with nothing but.......
PARFUM MINIATURES from mostly UNKNOWN MANUFACTURERS!!
There was so much to smell, to test, to "fumble with" for a whole hour. Some little bottles were completely full, some only half, or completely empty, a few were "tipped over",
but most of the still full bottles had a flawless scent.
By the way, I took 25 pieces right away, with 5 to 7.5 ml content for a "bulk discount" of 15 euros.
REALLY BRILLIANT PRICE, MANY VINTAGES INCLUDED.....
Among them was also "GIGI" from a company or brand JE EN.... I didn't know and still don't know it, but the scent is beautiful.
"GIGI" starts citrusy and spicy, with one spice possibly being cardamom, and another ginger, somewhat sharp and pungent, which soon fades and transitions into a honeyed and soft, jasmine-rich scent phase that is not too sweet.
And then, all of a sudden, a wave of clove hits, surprising the nose.
But not in an unpleasant way, as the spice is underlaid with roses and shimmers in purple. HEIDEWITZKA!!! Pure oriental.....pure, with black speckles...becoming softer and rounder, going deeper.
It "flirts" with woods. Dry, exotic, almost "powdery" and "tangible", fine like fresh shavings of sandalwood and possibly cedar.
The timbre of the perfume becomes deeper and more mystical. Patchouli greets from dark, fragrant earth.
Vetyver plays on a "harpsichord". A deep and almost surreal enchanted melody.
Mutual scent relationships and liaisons of a special kind are radiated.
But the clove always sets the pace. Sometimes subtle, sometimes pronounced, always together with the purple rose in the background.
And "GIGI" has endurance. I can smell it for several hours.
The sillage is not a "bomb", but pleasantly perceptible from the immediate "environment".
It's a shame that production has been discontinued.
And lastly: "GIGI" faintly reminds one of "Cinnabar" by Estee Lauder, but is darker and quieter.
