Oud for Beginners
Fragrances with oud somehow challenge me. Because they are different, angular, edgy. You either like them or you don't. There's not much in between.
My first thought about Wild Rose Aoud: vacation. Warmth. The perfume sales assistant looked at me somewhat incredulously and said, "Do you find this fresh?" No, fresh in the classic sense is definitely not what this perfume is. But I know why I immediately thought of vacation: it smells like the lobby of our hotel in Abu Dhabi - freshly cleaned but different from what I had known before. By the way, it was during this vacation that I first sniffed oud.
At first, it is very floral on my skin with a delicate sweetness. The rose is initially in the foreground, but it is inseparably connected with fruity accords (it reminds me a bit of peach, even though this note doesn't appear in the fragrance pyramid). Over time, the scent becomes warmer, almost a little cozy... but underlying it is that "dangerous" oud accord. It wants to say: "Don't underestimate me!"
Overall, I find the oud in this fragrance relatively harmless. Some oud scents are very heavy and threaten to become musty. This one does not - thanks to the rose, which is always somehow present. This makes it a fragrance that can definitely be suitable for everyday wear, when used in moderation. For me, it certainly belongs to the "heavier" scents, but it is still quite "clean" underneath. I like such combinations - it goes on the wish list ;)
