Shock in love or shocked?
In the perfumery, I recently sprayed the scent on a strip, then got distracted, took a quick sniff, and dismissed it as unremarkable. However, I pocketed the strip and about 30 minutes later, sniffed it again at home. Love at second sniff! The scent had transformed into something incredibly fruity-nutty, warm, pleasant, and unobtrusive. So, of course, I had to grab it when I discovered the fragrance a few days later at a promotional price.
As soon as Fairy Love arrives, I eagerly tear open the packaging and spray it on a paper strip with joyful anticipation. Initially quite fruity and unremarkable - I had already experienced that. My nose keeps wandering back to the paper. Surely the long-awaited transformation must happen now!
Far from it. After a short time, an aggressive raspberry note crystallizes out - and to be honest, I actually like raspberry! But here, I can find no other word than "aggressive" to describe the scent note. It stings my nose, really unpleasant, and I feel disappointment rising within me. Yet I still hold on to hope. Maybe after half an hour ...?
It takes nearly two hours for this aggressive scent note to subside, and I finally perceive the warm, fruity-nutty fragrance that had lingered in my memory.
Now I am confused: Is it because the perfume is still new? Will the scent change further? It wouldn’t be the first time a fragrance smells different upon first use than it does later. I still have hope. Because I can hardly use a perfume that requires me to wait two hours for it to smell good ...
Update: 7 months later. I have periodically brought out Fairy Love and tested it. Unfortunately, nothing has changed scent-wise for my nose so far, so I will likely let the fragrance go soon.
