Drunk Maple Borntostandout 2024

I was close to washing it off..
Drunk Maple is one of the very few fragrances that really challenged me. The opening and generally the first phase of the scent do not suit my taste at all and, as harsh as it sounds, totally put me off and disgusted me. I was really close to washing it off and scrubbing it down.
In my opinion, the fragrance contains three main accords.
These would be rum, suede, and coffee. All three notes are already recognizable at the beginning.
After the first spray, I thought to myself as the scent lingered in the air: "Wow, an iced coffee vibe. An instant iced coffee powder mixed with milk. Nice."
But when I held my nose to the surface of my hand, I thought: "Phew, this is exhausting and quite hard to get used to."
A few moments later, I thought: "Okay, now it’s getting really disgusting."
To better categorize and describe the whole experience, here’s a suggestion for visualization.
Imagine you are in an ancient pub where heavy smoking is allowed. The pub contains many leather sofas, leather armchairs, and chairs.
The leather furniture has absorbed all the cigarette smoke from many years and is deeply ingrained with it. The furniture doesn’t look nice anymore and has ancient coffee stains that were never properly cleaned.
In the pub, there are also people who are always a bit tipsy, first downing some coffee and then the old rum.
These are roughly the associations I get, and personally, it’s just too much for me.
It disgusts me a bit.
I was close to washing the scent off completely, but then I thought: "No Dennis, you can do this, let it dry down further and see how it develops."
Now comes the crazy part.
Over time, it actually gets good.
These "disgusting" vibes completely fade away for me after about 1-2 hours, and a wonderful lightly sweetened coffee scent develops. I now envision a sweetened coffee.
Coffee, maple syrup, and a bit of vanilla. Towards the end, the pleasantly creamy sandalwood joins in.
However, since I struggled quite a bit during the first two hours and was really disgusted, I can't really rate it well. What a shame!
But tastes and impressions of fragrances can be so different.
So definitely don’t let my review and somewhat harsh words deter you.
Test the fragrance for yourself and form your own opinion.

Super interesting! For me, in the first month, it was heavenly like thick, gooey maple syrup, and then it turned really burnt, strong, and intense just like you described... I still need to wait and see how it develops.
