Fresh Woods - Addictive Potential

This is a genuine spring fragrance for the gentlemen of creation. Fresh, woody, and spicy.
Iris plays a supporting role here... at least that's how I perceive it. The leading roles are played by cedarwood, sandalwood, and grapefruit. Cardamom is also noticeable. Nevertheless, the fragrance remains on the fresh woody side throughout its development, which I really appreciate... it’s almost addictive!

Due to its pleasant and casual nature, it is suitable for almost any occasion.
I think this could be a fragrance for men who like to smell fresh but don’t want to smell like shower gel right away; instead, they are looking for something special in the scent (which would be the spice here).

Definitely worth a test!
I love it on my boyfriend and I also wear it myself very happily!

Longevity: about 7 hours

Iris meets Santal Blush

Today, Birkholz held a small event at the local Douglas, and I took the opportunity to smell through the new fragrance line, which also includes Iris N’ Woods, while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine. When the line was first presented a few weeks ago, I had already sprayed a few of the scents. However, I hadn’t tried this one because I didn’t quite understand the concept at first. Today, I smelled it for the first time and immediately thought it seemed familiar.

Santal Blush by Tom Ford has been on my wish list for a while, but there have always been other fragrances that took precedence, so it had to wait its turn. Now, it seems this scent will have to be removed from the list, as I believe I have found the better Santal Blush for me in Iris N’ Woods.

The association with Santal Blush came later, after I had worn the fragrance for a few hours. For me, Iris N’ Woods is the "stronger," slightly more masculine scent. The composition is very balanced; spicy, woody, but also fresh at the same time, although it loses a bit of its freshness over time. Even though I perceive it as more masculine than Tom Ford’s scent, I would still classify it as unisex. It was well-received by my girlfriend, who immediately sprayed it on herself. The iris note is very subtle yet noticeable, making the cardamom and cumin beautifully soft and pleasant, as both can be quite dominant but harmonize well here. The scent is noticeably woodier than Santal Blush, which makes it more wearable for me personally.

A great fragrance for the cold season, more of an autumn scent than one for the really cold winter. A perfect scent for cuddling by the fireplace, for a walk in the woods over wet autumn leaves, or for a hot tea with a splash.

The performance is solid to good, lasting about 6-7 hours on my skin. However, the scent is close to the body, so you need to get a bit closer for it to show its full effect.

Edit:
I took the fragrance with me on a business trip to Vietnam, where it performed wonderfully in the hot and humid climate and was also received very well and positively. It could become a multi-talented fragrance and will surely be worn more often.

Fresh & Soft Woods with a Hint of Spice

Iris N Wood was one of the first high-quality fragrances I smelled. At first, I thought, "Yeah, okay, it smells good." A few weeks later, I smelled this fragrance on someone else and thought, WOW! I eventually asked which fragrance it was, and lo and behold, it was Iris N Wood. After that, I got a sample of the fragrance and tested it extensively. I quickly realized that the scent smells significantly better on the skin than on a test strip, which unfortunately cannot be said for all fragrances. Once the sample was used up, I actually didn't plan to buy the fragrance because it was too expensive for me. A few days later, I smelled the empty sample again, and it was clear to me: I need this fragrance.

In the end, I bought a 100ml bottle of the fragrance and shared it with friends. Everyone is thrilled with the scent, and it is well-received by others as well.

The fragrance can be described as fresh, woody, and slightly spicy. The fresh & woody note definitely takes center stage, while the spicy note is in the background.

Overall, Iris N Wood is a fragrance that is very casual and wearable in any situation. The longevity is about 6-10 hours (on clothes, it lasts significantly longer than on the skin). The scent is well perceived in the immediate vicinity, but you don't leave a scent cloud behind you, as is the case with, for example, Xerjoff fragrances.

I would recommend this fragrance for young men between 16 and 30 who don't want to smell like everyone else in this age group and are looking for a high-quality scent that still doesn't stray too far from the mainstream. However, the fragrance can easily be worn by older men and women of all ages as well. Additionally, it is a very good office scent.

Santal Without Cucumber

A scent that definitely makes an impression - but in a subtle, elegant way. Iris N Wood immediately reminds me of Santal 33, but without that risky pickled dill cucumber twist that sometimes comes through there. Here, everything is cleaner and clearer. And that’s exactly what makes it so strong - especially for everyday wear or at work.

The fragrance is very linear, which I don’t see as a negative in this case. You know what you’re getting: a fine blend of creamy wood, light cardamom, and this pleasantly dry iris. No major development, no surprises - but that’s exactly what makes it so reliable. Especially in professional situations, this is a huge plus.

I like to wear it to work, meetings, and even for meals with colleagues - it’s always appropriate, never too much, yet still present. Very high quality. Absolutely unisex.

And yet… as much as I appreciate it, I somehow find myself always undecided about whether it’s one of my favorite scents or not. No edges, no corners. It lacks that one special detail, yet it is beautiful. As a confident, stylish all-rounder for everyday use, it’s a top candidate. But for €280? Mhmm.

I’m also not sure if the fragrance has been discontinued or if there were just production issues. I couldn’t find it in many perfumeries anymore, but slowly it’s starting to reappear. It would be a shame if it were discontinued - wouldn’t it?

Iris N' Wood - Top or Flop?

First of all:
Birkholz has a few truly good fragrances, but also quite a few that are just average.

Many complain about the price. Understandable. Made in Germany.
I give the fragrance a 6/10 because I personally want to promote German brands more.

Iris N' Wood is unfortunately not worth its price objectively.
But I’m also not much of an iris fan to be honest.

Longevity is quite good 7/10. I have worn this fragrance in wind and weather, as well as in scorching heat. Obviously not the right choice above 30 degrees.

Sillage: Upper average 6.5/10.
The scent itself could be a bit stronger.

The bottle is unfortunately too minimalist for me 5/10. However, it might appeal to many who appreciate the "less is more" concept.

Who do I see wearing it: - Unisex maybe? -
I see it more with the male faction. Then there’s the question of the age group.
25-35 years could be an option. Young and not too intrusive in everyday life.

Where do I see it:
Office, leisure, or going out.

In my opinion, it still lacks that certain something to elevate it further.
As an entry-level niche fragrance, it’s quite good, if money is no object.
