The way to the land of milk and honey
He had set out again, had run off in a dream to realize his fantasies. The goal he saw clearly before his eyes, the way his feet still found hesitantly. In his dreams he had often been in the land where milk and honey flowed, roasts flew through the air, there was more wine than water, cheese cubes adorned the path, houses were built of cakes and fences of sausages. Idleness was not his aim, but play, fun, and all manner of amusement. He wanted to wear beautiful robes, trousers, waistcoats made of the finest cloth, and to taste the finest perfumes that smelled wonderful and also flattered his soul. All this and so much more he hoped to find in this place. He even heard of a fountain of youth, from which one would emerge years younger after a bath. Unfortunately, the dream always ended at a mountain-high wall of rice porridge. It surrounded the land and he would have had to eat his way through it to get inside. He couldn't stand rice porridge and woke up!

With the first intense smells of the perfume Naxos, fate found a kind of shortcut to him, a beaten path from his dreams to reality and he suddenly considered a small piece of this dreamland unexpectedly his own. The noble packaging, the beautiful bottle and the excellent workmanship already suggested good things and yet the expectations were exceeded. XJ 1861 Naxos by XerJoff is a spicy, sweet perfume with pronounced honey and tobacco notes on finely balanced citrus undertones, a fragrance that flatters your nose, touches your heart and caresses your soul.

The start of Naxos is surprisingly citrus-fresh. The bergamot and the lemon want to show here that they have the first lead. Nevertheless, they withdraw, briskly beginning, more and more without ever disappearing completely. They form, so to speak, the citric path on which Naxos will stroll in the next hours and on which they will be constantly present. No sooner is the path smoothed than it is taken over by honey and tobacco. The aromatic, dark honey rushes forward impetuously, while the tobacco is still a little cautious, one foot in front of the other, spreading only the first light scents. The creamy, even already spicy aromatic honey is slowed down in its flow by some lavender and floral, but gains even more seductive charm. In the meantime, the now thirsty tobacco could also catch up with the honey, in its luggage further finest spices. From here on, the two agile fellows together on their still long fragrant way!

Tobacco and honey go thereby an intimate connection. Sometimes drifting, sometimes supporting, but always resting in itself, both advance unwaveringly in aromatic-honey-sweet and tart-spicy track. The fragrance is thus very harmonious, because also lavender, cinnamon and flowers beckon finely in time and still quite strong from the wayside.

Before now, after ample distance covered, the deliciously fine-herb tobacco can narrow the sweetness of the honey, the two get warming sweet-balsamic accompaniment. The very slightly marzipan, especially the sweetness supporting tonka bean, however, is immediately held quite well on the still citrusy way in check. With its slightly vanilla character, however, it already announces its big sister, the real vanilla. This vanilla immediately joins in coherently without being showy or even taking the lead. Now as a foursome, they will all cover the last third of their distance together, until they slowly evaporate at the finish, after a total of about ten to twelve hours, together with the citric still present.

Naxos is to me allurement and desire, sweet temptation and sweet passion. Naxos is a perfume, an enjoyment with all senses and a small piece of the great happiness!

A decade ago, for the 150th anniversary, XerJoff honored the unification of individual states in 1861 under King Victor Emmanuel II to a united Italy with the fragrance series XJ 1861. The three fragrances released, Naxos, Zefiro and Renaissance, represent magnificent landscapes and the creative heritage of the Apennine Peninsula. As a tribute, the colors of the Italian flag also find their place on the packaging and bottle. This year, a decade later, Decas was released, the fourth perfume in the XJ 1861 collection, which fits seamlessly into the range of exclusive fragrances offered by the Turin-based house of XerJoff.

Thank you for being a guest on my journey with Naxos!

How dare you?!
Okay I will write a comment now anyway, although I have already written a statement.

Why is that? Well... at the Sillage.
I already hold the arm away from me and all I smell is Naxos! Honey, bergamot, tonka bean.
Luckily it smells good, otherwise my despair would be great.
Because I have the feeling that Naxos would vehemently resist if I tried to wash him off...

But I don't want to wash it off No, actually the sadistic thought of wearing Naxos on a hot summer day comes to my mind.
Hahahahah.
Your Marc Jacobs Daisy eau so fresh can pack ;)
eau so pity ;( now you can only smell Naxos!

And people will wonder what they smell. Is it an extravagant beekeeper who has doused himself with Le Male (see tonka bean) and will now hunt the bees on us?

Is this still art or already public nuisance?
Is anyone at all annoyed when this smell is in the air? Questions upon questions Personally, I think Naxos is pretty cool...

Still to clarify the title:
"What do you think you're doing?!
You think you're better than me?"
The Xerjoff-bearer lowers his gaze to the strange figure and answers modestly as he is: "But no, I don't think I am better, I am better"

Side note:
Whether the wearer really thinks that or only Naxos speaks out of him is not clearly recognizable.

the Greeks also came to Sicily
The name "XJ 1861 Naxos" irritated me at first:
The date 1861 already said something to me as an "Italian of the heart and soul": the "Kingdom of Italy" was launched in this year.
The first king Vittorio Emanuele II is already remembered by the monstrous monument of the "Unità d'Italia", in the middle of Rome.
Called by the locals also "The false teeth", this colossus is finally not to be overlooked.
Once again, megalomania was confused with style; but as a meeting place it is ideal - there you can not miss; at most get lost in the photographing tourist crowd.
Incidentally, for some time it has been possible to host events on the roof of this structure: the view over Rome is often more impressive than the people who meet there.
Usually this runs anyway under the motto: "See you!"

But what has it now with "Naxos" on itself? The Internet was troubled - the Internet knew advice!
Of course, the Greeks also came to Sicily! The excavations of Taormina are yet the best and most impressive memory of this "visit"!
And "Giardino Naxos" is about 50 kilometers south of Messina; the place belongs to this municipality.
Oh, my! Sometimes the board in front of my head is more like a tank plate!

"XJ 1861 Naxos" is the first fragrance of the brand Xerjoff, which I was allowed to test - thanks Gelis: the curiosity was of course great.
The pyramid here sounds very tempting, even if it turns out that it is not quite complete.
My now very scent-experienced nose said so right away; further research showed that she was not wrong!

This "white beauty" starts with citrus freshness: bergamot (of course, what perfumer would do without?!) and lemon open the round.
This Mediterranean fruitiness meets quite quickly lavender?!
Yes, it is lavender - as the previously mentioned research confirms!
Thus, for the first time, the sensual heart of Sicily opens up to me: quietly, yet intensely fragrant and ready to set the mood for an intoxicating adventure.
Honey powerfully perfumed with cinnamon flows around an abundance of white jasmine flowers, the great perfume-intensive umbels of night bloomers. These give their strong-sweet aroma without any restriction and completely unrestrained to their surroundings.
The honey sighs with well-being - it virtually purrs!
Other spices also play a flattering role: I detect cloves and nutmeg (a reminder of the Christmas spice cake that has become an annual ritual).
Even someone like me, who is not quite a fan of such scented sweets, is deeply touched by this spicy-white beauty. She lures to skillfully ...
The synthetic cashmeran gives a musky, slightly earthy woody note; to what extent it had to be resorted to, is beyond my knowledge.
But it does not harm the fragrance. This is good as it is.
Pretty soon, actually already after the lavender showed itself the first time, I meet tobacco: bright (not fermented) tobacco, freshly cut: a fragrance that always delights me.
The freshly opened packet sometimes brought more sensory pleasure than the first puff from the lit cigarette!
Especially in the sweet, floral this spice comes out very nicely and also harmonizes well with the existing kitchen spices.
Thus, a voluptuous-sweet fragrance bed is prepared for the creamy, warm vanilla: deep passion shines!
Venus enters the arena with fragrant entourage: here she is paid homage!

"XJ 1861 Naxos" reminds me of a wide, low divan with a multitude of soft, white cushions and blankets. Everything already seems a little rumpled ...
This "Lotterbett" (what a delightful word!) is located in a wood-paneled room, where the light comes solely from a funny flickering fire in the fireplace and countless candles.
A crackling, a vibration spreads ...
(Shh! Now we pull the white, voluminous curtain with the wide golden border in front of this scene!)
This fragrance leaves the skin warm and honey-colored overhauled; almost magical light reflections dance on it; the delicate shadow cast is cinnamon: partly applied with a fine brush as an ornament, partly blurred, flowing - without hard edges.
The blood under this skin pulsates ...

Yes, "XJ 1861 Naxos" is sweet - as sweet as a sinful temptation; a stolen night!
I took a chance on this charming, seductive fragrance and have not regretted it.
(It holds caresses for my currently so sore soul; it just feels good!)
The durability is really enormous; still in the morning a breath of cinnamon plays around me and reminds of fresh apple pockets with thick sweet icing, which just come out of the oven: "Honey! Coffee's ready!"
This "morning after" is not gruesome; no, it is full of tender swaying fragrance, full of warmth - and it wears a smile, like a silky billowing negligee.

This enchanting "white sin" may stay with me until the bottling is empty.
We will certainly spend beautiful hours together, which are worth a memory.

(Well, dear Gelis: were your expectations met? I did it with pleasure! And it is - by the way: my 350th comment here!)

Opinion mongering through YouTube!
Friends of good taste, here comes the crowning glory.
When I smelled Naxos the first time, my expectations, driven by quite a few social media entries, were so high that the fragrance could never have met them.
...And well, that he has not.
Do not get me wrong. Right from the start you notice the high quality and dedication with which the fragrance was created.
Nevertheless, in my opinion, it is not an undisputed masterpiece.
What awaits you?
A great tobacco fragrance with a seductive sweetness through honey.
It is wonderfully balanced. Balances perfectly between warm sweetness and distant smokiness.
It is not a fragrance for me that I would count among the gourmands.
You have to be dressed appropriately to do this fragrance justice. With a pair of sweatpants one will certainly not succeed.
Quite especially beautiful comes the fragrance when it is colder outside. Naxos is suitable both for cozy togetherness on the couch, as well as for all other types of occasions.

Definitely give it a try, but lower your expectations if they were similar to mine. So you will have a lot of fun with this fragrance.

Hypnotized
I was a few weeks ago with my girlfriend in the city stroll and we looked of course also in the perfumery of our confidence by. There we got into conversation with two gentlemen who were just tasting through the XerJoff fragrances and were determined to buy a fragrance of this house. When they told us about their current favorite perfumes, we realized that almost all of them were already in our collection. So I thought I could rely on these noses and asked them which perfume they had just bought. It was Naxos. So the saleswoman sprayed me the fragrance and I must admit I found him really good. However, 190€ were too expensive for me. So we left the store and strolled further through the city. However, I just could not stop smelling my wrist and the more often I smelled it, the longer I had to smell it, until my girlfriend said it was enough but now slowly. I was like hypnotized. Even in the evening in bed the scent followed me and burned itself positively into my brain. So I couldn't help but drive to the perfumery the next morning, as if remote-controlled, to buy it. An absolute performance monster

It's like eating a whole jar of spiced honey with a spoon, seems great at first, but then it becomes sweet and tiring.

One of the best tobacco based fragrances out there. I am lucky enough to own an old bottle, because the actual one was killed.

Going against the grain here- sorry- this is a hypebeast I just don't understand. Overpoweringly synthetic sickly sweetness.

A bright and citrusy opening that develops into something that's hard to pin down. Stays sweet the whole time and barely smoky on me.
