They have a new one...
Unexpectedly, I received a call last week. A call I couldn't take! DARN!
After several callbacks, the caller was finally on the line. You know him, the future father-in-law. Just like with the last "heads-up" about the "Viniverra | Eberbach-Schäfer," I was now made aware of this one.
"They've released a new one! I brought you the new bottle of Viniverra and a sample! It smells really good!"
"Really good" wasn't exactly an indication of something truly amazing for me :P
So, that same day I went out (what else is there to do in the current phase of the pandemic) and picked up the full bottle of Vini and sprayed the sample right away. On fabric and on my wrist. Just like last time.
After applying the fragrance, settling debts, and having a conversation over a glass of the finest wheat beer, I made a quick visit to Grandma. Grandma also likes perfume and thinks it’s nice when I smell good!
So during the visit, I let her have the bottle of Viniverra and generously applied the sample on her forearm. Her forearm! Be that as it may, she was happy, and I still had a good amount left in the sample. Of course, I left the full bottle of Viniverra in her hands!
On the way home, the scent accompanied me the whole time. So warm yet still strong. So comforting. Just good!
So, dear Diavolo...
You start unexpectedly (black bottle, red label) very fresh! The grapefruit gives it all, remaining very present for the first half hour. Scent-wise, I actually expected a different start. The petitgrain can be detected lying in the corner as well... after a few minutes, lavender and cardamom join in, which give the freshness a slight dampening. Once the tonka bean comes to visit, the freshness is completely gone; it becomes warmer. Woodier. More enticing! Even a bit heftier. This oak barrel really packs a punch. According to the website, it's the oak barrel extract from their barrique barrels. Can it get any better?!
And as has often happened to me, the heart note has captivated me. I’ve sniffed something similar in another combination before, and thus the scent, just like its predecessor "Viniverra | Eberbach-Schäfer," is indeed very spot on, but presented in a completely new and modern way! Right up in the feels... And also a great counterpart for the cooler season!
Another - in my opinion - great hit from a small company that wasn't on my radar, which certainly has its fans and surprises them with such a wonderful scent! A private winery that, alongside great wines, spirits, liqueurs, and vinegars, also creates fantastic fragrances.
These fragrances definitely don’t have to hide from designers or even some niche brands.
At least not for me.
So my recommendation, since we are mostly cooped up at home anyway: Test out the shop, order samples (by the way, you get the price refunded if you decide to buy a full bottle... who does that?!), and maybe even grab a bottle of wine to make the current transition to normality a bit more bearable. Or just stop by if you're in the area. It's always worth it!
Thank you!
