Dostoevsky crouches in the cellar hole and fantasizes about nihilistic crossbeams that cancel the wooden foundation of ancient days.

Such a musky-spicy aura sounds really nice!

One of the best quality fragrances I've ever tested from Ensar or currently own!

Sounds really complex and exciting! Although the musk does scare me a bit 😁

It's complex. The musk is spicy, not stinky.

I'm easy to please in this regard: Dostoevsky references can pull me out of any hole, and in case of doubt, I might even wander in willingly. I only partially understand the other references, but the notes and your description sound tempting.

That's quite a reference for a fragrance, this charming little cellar hole.

That sounds great, Ensar has always been good at creating conceptually interesting fragrances.

Some of the older Ensar fragrances are really well made.

If you're associating it with literati, then the scent must be profound.

Very profound, for those reflective moments. When the call to the woods leads to inner emigration.

That sounds really intense! The dense Ensars are always worth a look, unlike the more forgettable mass-produced stuff... The very spicy, musky, and medicinal profile might not be my thing, but it could definitely be interesting! Exciting picture! Had to Google who this is! 😂

The older Ensars are definitely denser in their composition, which I always dismissed as a rumor in the past, mainly to justify the extra cost for the leather cases. I have to say: the quality is top-notch. Whether one is personally willing to pay this amount for 30ml is another question, of course. Unlike almost all the fragrances I've tested from the EO Pivée line by Ensar, this extra cost is worth it for me this time.

The air up there at the summit is very thin. And yet, I would never want to go back to the basement.

She's definitely getting thinner. Her gaze still wanders, but her eyes are increasingly resembling those of an eagle, sharper than ever.

I'm still a bit unsure about the beeswax coating, but otherwise, this sounds like a big and complex creation from Ensar.

In my opinion, there are definitely stronger propolis and beeswax scents. The Tonkin musk dominates here much more.

It still wasn't quite your thing, judging by your state. The tobacco just wouldn't let you be.

Spicy-woody. Not Underground in the sense of boiling chimneys or dust relics buried deep in the earth, but rather herb-(musk-)spicy. Right from the start, you're greeted by a dense veil of spices along with a very strong, dry oud accord. I don't think it quite fits the medical profile (oud), possibly evoked by the beeswax?! Instead, it has a lightly green-woody character (enhanced by rosemary), with some overlaps to the dry-aged oud in Jungle Kinam, but without its solvent aspect. After the initial spice burst, a pleasant, slightly ethereal freshness spreads for a brief moment, even coming across as significantly sweet-caramel-like in the background, only to gradually darken, bringing earthy aromas along, as if some patchouli had been woven through mushroom mycelium.

I don't know what I was expecting. Underground hit me completely unexpectedly - fresh and herbal. My expectations were totally exceeded... you know how the story ends. :-)

Overall, it comes across as hermetically sealed (blended) yet distinctly complex, coated with beeswax and deeply anchored by musk; the latter shines through in high concentration. This gives it a characterful, almost reverent depth reminiscent of high-quality Ensar attars. Price-wise, it’s undoubtedly in a completely different, rather exclusive league. It’s easy to say “High-end!” about such an expensive fragrance, but here it truly applies in multiple ways; a fantastic scent. Thanks to @loid for letting me experience this gem.
