How could I have missed this? Strong name, I'm always alert to that. Yes, you often have to test Ensars, as you constantly discover something new in the scent. It's a shame it's a bit too sweet. But I loved **Purple Rain**.
You have to keep in mind that I don't necessarily like sweet scents as much as others do, so it just appeals to me less. Fruity is also a bit tricky for me sometimes; I don't always prefer it in the spotlight. Here, both are present.
I hope the elements become a bit stronger; for me, the scent is really dominated by the fruity-sweet purple opening. At least during the second test, there was a bit more variety.
I'm with Kazuo on this; just based on the notes, I had a different idea of it. However, I'm curious to see how I would perceive it once I get a chance to test it. If ambergris is in the name, it should definitely be a main player.
Amber is in there; I was able to notice it at least during the second test. But in the first test, hardly at all.
Based on the description, I knew it would probably be a bit sweet, especially with the name Ottoman.
But I didn't expect it to be so fruity-sweet!
I also perceive a bit of Tonkin-soaked vetiver and a slight leather note, which might come from the beaver and Assam oud. The scent is much fruitier and sweeter than I expected. During my first test, it mostly smelled like that for many hours. This time, at least the other notes came through a bit, allowing me to identify them. For me, there could have been a bit more ambergris instead of Ottoman. I would have liked the oud to be a bit stronger as well. Overall, with its fruity-sweet purple character, it's not really my preferred scent direction, but I'm curious to see how the aging of the raw materials will affect it. I'm somewhere between 7.5 and 8. The improvement from today compared to last time, along with further aging, makes me give it an 8.
