Resinous with Depth...

What I encounter over time is simply fantastic. And some fragrances are composed with a lot of imagination. Like this "Rodeo," which, by its name, is supposed to remind one of wild rider shows by tough cowboys.
But it smells neither cowboy-like nor American. Rather, it has classic woody tones that come across as very resinous. There are notes of balsam fir and less so of pine. Deep within, there is a very inky birch tar, slightly "animalistic" even, and spices are not far off either. Sage and thyme are to be suspected, possibly also cumin. Probably patchouli and vetiver as well. But they are all subordinate to the resins that come to the forefront most clearly.
This scent is most comparable to perfumes like Dali pour Homme Eau de Toilette or "Tsar (Eau de Toilette) | Van Cleef & Arpels" and similar ones. However, it possesses some olfactory characteristics that are uniquely its own.
It later becomes wonderfully mossy, which combines particularly well with the dark resins and gives "Rodeo" a shimmering green "twist."
And the longevity and sillage are truly fantastic for a fragrance labeled as "Eau de Cologne"! This is pleasantly more common with such ultra-old "classics." Luckily for the wearers and their noses :-))
