Walk Through a Mixed Flower Field with an Integrated Fruit Orchard
I’ll take a shot at reviewing Ricina.
What strikes me positively at first is the packaging. It is a tactile pleasure to work my way through to the perfume: I first remove the cardboard sleeve, followed by opening the two-part box. A velvet-covered box is revealed, which opens with a flap mechanism. I have reached my destination: Inside the box, nestled in red silk, lies the beautiful bottle, which is also surrounded by velvet. That already earns a big plus.
The scent is, in its entirety, at least as high-quality as the packaging. After the first two sprays, I find myself mentally walking on a beautifully sunny spring day through a mixed flower field with an integrated fruit orchard. Floral-fruity notes waft under my nose. I smell a fragrance conglomerate of plum, rose, orange, jasmine, peach, and patchouli. Very pleasant, but also very present. More than two sprays would have been too much. In my opinion, the scent develops quite linearly. After about half an hour, a subtle animalic note emerges, likely due to the musk and oud. Nothing - caution, pun intended - wild. After this, the scent does not change anymore.
The "Holy Trinity" of performance, projection, and sillage is exceptional. Really exceptional. I find comparable values among the fragrances from XerJoff, MFK, or Amouage.
Ricina is a unisex fragrance that, in my opinion, tends more towards "feminine." However, men can wear it without any problem. As I have already hinted, I see this scent on my skin on warm spring and autumn days, as well as in summer. With caution, I remind you of the strong values in performance, projection, and sillage. This power could be rather overwhelming in certain situations. Nevertheless, I believe that Ricina is a true all-rounder despite the aforementioned. With the exception of sporting activities, the scent is "wearable" for any occasion.
The only downside is the price, which for 100ml of Extrait de Parfum is beyond 300 euros. That’s quite a number, especially if you’re not getting the perfume on sale or through other means.
But even this point doesn’t lead me to say anything negative about the scent in my final conclusion. The fact is: With this perfume, you experience an extensive scent walk that requires endurance. No worries, the perfume has it.
