Mechanic - MV Agusta competitor?
I discovered @hunq_amsterdam at this year's Esxence in Milan and fell in love with the concept

Mechanic was the one scent that caught my attention immediately - extremely unique and, fitting the name, smoky, dirty, leathery at first, and then it dries down to a really nice smoky floral scent

It has a good portion of synthetic notes, but it fits the theme very well - it has a rubbery, oily sensation in the top notes that transport the feeling of being a mechanic very well

This reminds me a bit (hold your comments - only a bit!) of Xerjoffs MV Agusta. A little less 'in your face' and more unique in a way.

Is this a blind buy?
Definitely no! Sample this before getting a full size!
If you are into bad boy scents, definitely check this out!

Performance is great - easy full day wear with great Sillage
I have to mention the sprayer: It is one of the best 'shower head' type sprayers I have ever seen

When Expectations Are Shattered
Who among us doesn't know it: You discover a fragrance on Parfumo, read the description and fragrance pyramid, and the reviews, and then you have a picture in your head of what to expect.
That's how it was for me with this... um... let's say unusual fragrance from the house of Hunq. I read about it, found it intriguing, and ordered a sample.

To better understand my review, I need to mention the following: I like the smell that prevails in subway stations near the tracks. You come down the (escalator) stairs, and you smell this mix of heavy oil, rubber abrasion, metal, electricity, etc.
Every person I tell this to just shakes their head. I can understand that. It's also a very specific "preference".

So that was the expectation. And what did I get? Well, not much platform, but a lot of train station restroom. The bigger the station, the more infernal the stench. And that's exactly what I smelled here after spraying. Yes, also a bit of burnt rubber, maybe a bit of metal abrasion, but mainly urine. A hopelessly overwhelmed cleaning staff tried to minimize the cloud of pee with a cleaning product that had a violet scent. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.
Upon reaching the heart note, it got even worse. The gentlemen of creation will know them, these green-blue toilet stones that lie in the urinal and are supposed to improve the smell in the stall. Spoiler: they don't.
In any case, while smelling, I had the association of old toilet stone and violet. And pee. So far from what I had imagined "Mechanic" to be.
At least the base showed some mercy on me. Finally, the urine smell disappeared, and a resinous-spicy mix emerged, likely due to styrax and patchouli. Although still far from the name, at least it was pleasant to smell.

But that doesn't save the fragrance in my eyes anymore. Let's be serious: Even if it is meant to be a conceptual fragrance, who wants to smell like a toilet duck? Maybe as an anti-fragrance to shock as many people as possible. That certainly works well in the first two hours. Otherwise, it's unbearable.

With that, my "outing" to strange subway smells comes to an end, and I’m clocking out. Cheers!

So "bad" that it's good again: burnt wires, sweat, and a lot of courage! The most radical and the best of the line. The rest? Difficult...

A smudged work overalls not washed for 8 weeks, stained with some chemical cleaners. 100% on point. Do we really need this?

Quite intriguing! First smoky, animalistic, and leathery. Then Styrax surprisingly joins in and it becomes delightfully sweet.

"Workshop-Animalik"
No animal secrets, but oil, gasoline, rubber, solvents, and metal. Sparks fly and sweat drips.
Very exciting!

Absolute turn-off. Powder, diapers, vomit. Everyone in the office found it disgusting.
