Old Nha Trang Wisdom

I love Vietnamese oils more than any other region, and this one is my favorite Vietnamese oil, Nha Trang Ultima from Imperial Oud.
I was fortunate enough to source two more grams of this oil. The house closed its doors and what a shame that is. The oils they offered were the best I've ever come across as far as value for money is concerned. I tried a few and grabbed several down the road and they are all amazing. This one is outstanding.
It is an insanely complex oil, and it seems to display different facets every time I wear it, thus, I have not managed to track down a clear, constant development. Just a burst of flavors, textures, and colors that come and go, constantly shifting. It always starts red, almost like Koh Kong red but it doesn't feel like berries but definitely has a red quality to it, rather reminiscent of rooibos tea. This facet comes and goes throughout the wear. It has a green mentholated chord that seems to be the most constant one, it is always present but subtle, almost humming in the background. Sweet hay, earthy and leathery, but very clean, nothing dirty, not for a second. The texture shifts from dusty old wood and grainy leather to creamy, smooth, vanillic oleoresin. There are times when the earthy facet is adjoined by cocoa powder and almost has a chocolate-like nuance. But there's always change, never constant. The only facet I find to be consistent is the green mintiness, and the progressive textural transition from grainy, dusty, and earthy wood to a smooth, creamy, and oleoresinous one. The color spectrum would be brown, golden, gray, and green with speckles of red. This is one is for introspection, and admiration of nature's work, after all, the greatest of all artists.
