Versatile and relatively cheap

This fragrance is great for the warmest days of the year. Often times I run into people who wear fragrances that are ill-suited for hot weather and end up choking out everyone around them. Not with Nivea Sun!

One thing to note is that it's an Eau de Toilette. Now, I know not everyone will fancy this but the softness and lightness is actually one of it's biggest strengths and the factor that makes it perfect for hot days. It doesn't matter if it gets humid or is a dry heat, Nivea Sun works. It doesn't overpower, its sillage is quite intimate which I think is very important in hot weather. It doesn't have the best staying power, yet if I get close and sniff my skin I can still smell it 8 hours later. No one else will be able to smell after about 3 or 4 hours of wearing though.

The scent itself does smell like the sun lotion upon spraying. Over time it develops into a little more powdery, yet still sunny scent. No babywipes here! It's a perfect blend of notes as nothing really stands out or takes over the other notes. On top of that, this is the most perfect scent to put on top of sun cream! Sometimes fragrances would turn sour on me when I layered them over suncream, yet this one doesn't.

Pricewise it's not the cheapest fragrance out of the collection in stores, yet it performs well for it's pricepoint. Definitely consider getting Nivea Sun if you're looking for a fragrance fit for those extremely hot days, it that will keep you smelling fresh and goes great with sun cream.

Underrated gem

Bei gott Nivea Sun ist für “junge Leute”(ig) die einfach Sommer fühlen. Es riecht einfach wie Sonnencreme nur irgendwie noch frischer. Der perfekte Duft für den Beach. Würde ich für den Preis jedem empfehlen. Die Haltbarkeit lässt safe zu wünschen übrig kostet aber auch nur 20€ da darf man nicht meckern.

Who’s the one getting smeared now, huh?

Oh yes, folks, it’s still summer, and while it can be pleasant, it’s often hotter than hot, which can really ruin summer for me. For me, 25 degrees is the optimal temperature, but no, summer sometimes thinks it can just crank it up by a whole 10-15 degrees… Yuck yuck!!!

And yes, you don’t like it either! Am I right? Except for a few brain-dead people who think summer only really starts at 40 degrees, everyone else surely finds it quite exhausting when the days are extremely hot (and possibly humid too), so that with every slightest movement, you sweat at least two liters and stick everywhere. Of course, by the lake or at the sea, it’s a bit more bearable since you can quickly cool off in the water, and you even realize that the cool water or a shady spot under the beach umbrella is much more pleasant than in the blazing brutal sun. Then it becomes clear that Don Juan de Cat was absolutely right and that extreme heat can really be exhausting, especially when you don’t have the opportunity to just pop over to the lake or the sea every day.

Ha! So listen to me every now and then. I may often complain and scream here, but now and then I also radiate total wisdom! :D And since we’re talking about spraying: Yes, yes, especially in summer, one should not skimp on sunscreen and should best spray oneself all over, which brings us to my latest comment: Nivea Sun!
(PS: Yes,… the weather is certainly more pleasant right now… but it’s always just the calm before the storm, just wait… it will be boiling again soon!!!)

The Scent:

The scent begins with a wonderful sunscreen note that immediately conveys a feeling of sun at the beach. Or at the lake, at least something with water and sun. Well, you can also sunbathe in the garden or park or on a meadow, but without water, that would just be way too boring for me. The distinctive Nivea scent is somewhat less pronounced here than in the EDT, as the sunscreen note is simply much more intense. The green notes mentioned here do appear in the top note, but only very briefly, so that you soon have to smell more closely at the sprayed spot to even perceive the green notes.
Floral notes are perceived much better. For a fraction of a moment, the floral notes appear heavy and humid, briefly reminding one of flowers like Ylang-Ylang. But as mentioned, this only lasts very briefly, so that soon you can smell prettier, looser, and slightly sweet flowers. Otherwise, the scent is soft and lightly powdery and, of course, also quite creamy.
Towards the end, the sunscreen note fades a bit, as the scent becomes a bit sweeter and more floral. Actually, it stays like that afterward, but one must also say that it doesn’t last long anyway. If you want to enjoy the lovely sunscreen scent again, you should re-spray after about three hours. But in any case, the scent is quite successful!

The Sillage and Longevity:

The sillage is somewhat weak and will therefore only be perceived up close. Well, just like sunscreen. The longevity is also rather short. After three to four hours, only light, sweet floral notes remain, which also don’t last very long.

The Bottle:

The bottle has the same disc-shaped design as the original Nivea perfume but is transparent with a golden-yellow tint. There’s no cap since the spray head is integrated into the bottle. The bottle thus resembles the Nivea tins and looks quite okay.

Ah, the scent has turned out wonderfully! Here, especially at the beginning, you smell a very specific scent note that should be all too familiar to everyone, especially in summer or on summer vacation: sunscreen! Exactly, that creamy note with the distinctive scent that 50% of humanity applies to their skin as a precaution when the sun is high in the sky and mercilessly roasting everyone. The other 50% of humanity is unfortunately a bit too careless and negligent when it comes to the sun and stubbornly think, “Nothing will happen!”
Yes, maybe this could have been said in the 60s/70s, but today, when every year is hotter than the previous one, one should really use sunscreen. When sunbathing, of course, but also possibly when you’re out in the sun for too long on really hot days or have to work outside in summer. So, you know the deal: Don’t be too foolish, folks, and use sunscreen every now and then. There have been sunscreen sprays for years that are much easier to apply than sunscreen lotion… just a little hint in case you didn’t know… :DD

Well, thus the scent, as it should be, has become a summer scent that is more feminine due to the floral notes than unisex. It is best used during the day, especially because you can also smell sunscreen and thus associate it with a sunny day rather than the evening. For all sun worshippers, the scent is definitely a must, at least when it comes to testing! By the way, it smells much better to me than the regular Nivea scent. So then, get out into the sun (well, as soon as the sun should shine again in a few days) and go test the scent; I’ll grab a shady spot in the meantime… and watch the ladies applying sunscreen from there, mu ha ha,… oh man, that sounds perverse… :DD

Sun Hunger

I love summer. And I don't mean that summer is my favorite season, but that it evokes real feelings. Deep feelings. I can't live without it. In November and January, I hardly exist; everything in me craves sunlight, summer air, the feeling of freedom. It feels like heartache, it really hurts, it's heartbreak in its purest form. When I watch documentaries about beaches and the sea on TV, tears of longing roll down my face and my stomach cramps.
This scent from Nivea triggers all of that in me during the dark season, and yet I love the fragrance because it smells like my great love, summer.
It is the scent of the beach, of the sea, of swimming and surfing, of being outdoors, of being free, of endlessly long, warm days, and also of childhood at the campsite.

Unfortunately, the longevity of this fragrance is the opposite of the length of summer days. I have to carry this scent with me and reapply it every 2 hours to keep experiencing it. But Nivea has done a great job of capturing the scent of Nivea sunscreen in a perfume bottle.
