Tobacco Paradise

Vanilla Paradise V1 from Jinkoh Store.

My favorite perfume composition from the house, by a long shot. I wanted a bottle as soon as I sampled it. The funny thing about that is that my sample sat untouched for a long time. I was looking at the label and imagining a huge vanilla attar that would turn up too gourmand and sweet for my liking. One day, I decided to give it a go and was pleased to discover that this is not about the vanilla as much as it is about the tobacco. "Tobacco Paradise" would have been a better-suited name for this attar as tobacco is the most prevalent note here. The composition plays on the dry tobacco facets. Yes, there is vanilla, and there is also castoreum, the two being the strongest supporters of the tobacco note. A few other clever and unique touches make this attar not just special, but an utter delight to wear. Banana and coffee add a beautiful complementary touch to the vanilla, without feeling overdone, as many times I find coffee or fruity accords. Blending is top-class. The composition feels like a whole with seamless transitions. It wears heavily throughout, although the opening stages feel more airy as the banana note displays this slightly green quality. Apart from that, the tobacco-vanilla-castoreum core grounds the attar for hours on the skin with a most delightful sillage. An exotic take on tobacco with gourmand qualities that never becomes cloying or excessively sweet. The name is misleading, to say the least, as it almost made me skip this one.
