Oud Karkadè Jupilò 2025

Oud Karkadè, a creation of Arturetto Landi for Jupilò, is a good and fruity fragrance, with enough depth.
Karkadè is an infusion made from the calyx of the hibiscus flower. The flower itself doesn’t smell, but the calyx gives the infusion a tangy and a bit sour taste.
Oud Karkadè doesn’t have any real oud and no hibiscus, nor does it smell like a karkadè infusion, so in my opinion the name is rather misleading.
Does that make it also a bad perfume? No, certainly not. Arturetto Landi is a very experienced perfumer and he still knows how to create a good fragrance.
The top notes are mostly fruit notes, like black currant, apple, plum and blood orange.
The heart is floral, with jasmine, iris, magnolia and lily of the valley. According to the pyramid there’s oud in the base, but like I said, no real oud and I can’t detect an oud accord. What I do notice is sugar, a very faint leather accord, some vanilla and sandalwood.
Longevity is good and sillage is decent.
If this perfume had a less misleading name, I probably would be more enthusiastic about it, but it still is a very nice fragrance.

At the start, aniseed and apple are very much to the fore, followed promptly by ambergris, leather and oud.

The floral accords are added as the fragrance progresses, but they tend to remain in the background and soften the fragrance.

There is a lot of leather and oud on the skin in the drydown. The longevity and sillage are therefore very above average. Overall, the fragrance has a very dark, heavy presence. A little too dark for me. It remains a good fragrance that surely finds its fans.
