Well, there I was, deep in conflict with myself...
On one hand, I found and still find the brand owner rather unsympathetic, on the other hand, I am an absolute fan of cherry scents...
Well, I want to test the fragrance, not drink a beer with Kai
So I joined in on the sharing, and off we go.
After the first spray, the scent starts with the promised, really not so sweet cherry and almond, along with (for me personally TOO) much alcohol.
It smells like the very strong cherry liqueur that Grandma always indulged in at birthday parties
Unfortunately, the alcoholic note lingers on my skin well into the base, and that is what keeps us from becoming friends.
I find the cherry itself good, but it is too dominated by the alcohol for me. It's basically the Harald Juhnke of cherry scents. As it develops further, a cinnamon spiciness comes in, but still behind the alcohol.
Sillage and longevity are good, I get a solid 8 - 9 hours.
I must say, however, that I do not understand some of the reviews here. As mentioned at the beginning, I am really not a fan of the K.P., but if you rate such a craft-solid fragrance with 0.5 - 4, then that is not objective in my eyes. I find it unfortunate and undeserved.
Of course, when buying a full bottle, you also buy the brand, especially in those price dimensions.
You can still decide for yourself whether the person(s) behind the brand appeal to you or not and take that into account.
But the fragrance itself doesn't change.
Can someone explain to me what people have against Kai? I've been following him on YouTube for a long time and I think his videos are the most professional of all. He expresses himself really well and can describe fragrances wonderfully.
In my opinion, calling Kai Porten professional is a bad joke! I used to enjoy watching his videos for a while, but now he just annoys me with his constant "sick," "mega cool," "blows me away," etc. What’s professional about that?? He constantly praises the perfumes he sells on his website, like Simone Andreoli. I don't know Kai Porten's fragrances, so I can't comment on them. The most professional and credible reviewer on YouTube is Aaron Terence Hughes; Kai Porten can't even come close. I've definitely unsubscribed from Kai Porten's channel-it's just too annoying now.

Well, I can only speak for myself, not for others, but I personally find him unapproachable and somewhat arrogant in his interactions with the community when someone expresses criticism.
I had subscribed to his channel because of the fragrance descriptions you mentioned, etc.
The first time I noticed it was in a video where he evaluated collections from his viewers. I can't recall the exact situation, but I definitely found his behavior so off-putting that I unsubscribed.
For me, it's not just about the professional side, but also the human aspect. And what I saw there simply contradicts my view of how to treat people. I also found it very inappropriate how he attacked a significantly smaller YouTuber.
Kudos for writing a factual comment! I really regret that some people here - not just with K.P. - seem to be airing grievances against the brands or individuals behind them. It's a shame for the whole community. And rating a fragrance a 0.5 - I think that's just plain wrong. I wouldn't even do that with my "nightmare" scents, and there should be a solid, well-founded reason for such a low score, out of fairness, because there's always work behind it, and whether you like it or not is purely a matter of taste.

Unfortunately, personal taste often plays a bigger role than I'd like, but I wouldn't let either a Kai Porten or a Jeremy Fragrance influence my fragrance evaluation. The fact that the scent would have to be exceptionally good for me to consider buying it is another matter.
In my opinion, a 0.5 rating might be suitable for a deodorant spray, but not for any decent perfume. As you said, there’s always work involved, and someone has put thought into it... Most of the time...
