Fruity, boozy, spicy and wonderfully aromatic - pure pleasure!
With Cherry X, Kai Porten and Mark Buxton have created a really beautiful cherry fragrance! I personally think that this fragrance has a remarkable character and that everything else smells generic. All the more reason why I find it extremely unfortunate that this great fragrance is being judged so controversially. I would like to appeal to everyone to evaluate the fragrance as such and to leave personal opinions about Kai Porten as a person (whether positive or negative) out of the equation.
What can we expect with Cherry X?
Anyone expecting a lost cherry here is wrong. We have a really nice invigorating start here, which comes together through the interplay of cherry and raspberry. The eponymous cherry is the main player here and this is not squeaky-sweet, but very boozy and pleasing.
What I personally like is that the top note is beautifully accompanied by davana. This makes the start look very classy and promises us an exciting, complex fragrance right from the start.
The transition to the heart notes is very fluid and in no way creates an unpleasant plot twist. I particularly notice the almond note here. I must also praise Mr. Buxton's craftsmanship here. The other (especially spicy) heart notes are very finely interwoven and despite the many notes, you notice that everything is very well balanced and rounded!
My personal highlight of this fragrance is the moment when the base notes are really perceived. Delicious tonka absolute paired with great amber and a fine vanilla note is my Achilles' heel. Musk also lends the familiar creamy touch. And all this together with the cherry - what more could you want? I perceive styrax, oud, patchouli and incense more in the second row, but I think that these notes definitely give this creation the final perfect touch.
Cherry X performs much better than the aforementioned Lost Cherry. it definitely lasts 8 hours on my skin. I tend to see this fragrance on a man, but women can of course also wear it. I am not the type of person who receives many compliments for the fragrance I wear, but I have already received 2 positive reactions to it in a very short time, which speaks for itself in terms of pleasantness.
I can only advise everyone here to try this fragrance!
