Oud 31 Kai Porten Parfums Privés 2023

I haven't smelled many oud fragrances so far, but this one really intrigued me. It has been discussed quite controversially. Finally, I got to enjoy a sample, and what can I say, I am positively surprised. I will neither hate nor hype here, but report soberly and neutrally. Yes, at first it is animalic. My wife says it smells like rose with the poopy diapers of our two-year-old. However, the animalic aspect fades quite quickly. The longer Oud 31 is on the skin, the better it gets. It develops into a creamy, rosy, and vanilla-amber direction. The longevity is good, and the sillage is as well. After about 6 hours, I only perceive it subtly. All in all, it's something successfully different, although the top note is obviously off-putting for most. I think it's cool, but at that price, it probably won't find a place in my collection.

Addendum: The more I wear it, the more I get used to the animalic opening, I even start to appreciate it.
