I Smell and Wonder

Recently, I visited the drugstore chain with the centaur in its logo and checked out the fragrance selection. That's when I noticed Karleidoscope, which I had not known before and had not seen anywhere else. So, I called over a sales assistant, who somewhat reluctantly first sprayed the fragrance on a test strip and, at my request, also on my wrist.

My first impression from the test strip was fine, sweet, and very ethereal, so I wanted to have a skin test as well. After the alcohol evaporated, I mainly perceived this ultra-sweetness of the heliotrope, which becomes a bit more harmonious and milder due to the added flowers, without knowing the fragrance pyramid. I cannot detect a distinct scent progression; after the alcohol evaporates, it remains almost unchanged until the base. Overall, I still quite like the fragrance. I find it elegant and pleasant, not a headache candidate, but the sillage is so weak for an EdP that I wouldn't spend money on it.
Right after the test, I went to the gym, where fragrances usually show their true face due to the rising body heat and higher pulse, and even there I could only smell it by putting my nose directly to my wrist. After showering, it was completely gone.

Since I owned several Lagerfeld fragrances in the 80s and 90s, all of which were strong and room-filling - I still mourn my beloved KL endlessly - I am very irritated by the restraint of this little water, especially since it does not match at all with the impression I have of Karl Lagerfeld.

What fits more into this picture is the design of the tube-shaped packaging with faceted glass on the cap, behind which is a black sponge with the typical outline of Karl Lagerfeld, so that one can infinitely multiply his silhouette when looking through it. The little sponge can be removed, scented with the perfume, and for example, placed in the laundry or in a handbag. Thus, the eccentricity and presence of the master have remained in this case with the "surroundings," and the content is largely unimpressive. This would also explain why it is already in drugstores less than a year and a half after its market launch and has not even encountered me in the ever-present orange or turquoise perfumery chains.
