Sophisticated
I have been looking forward to this fragrance for a long time, as I am somehow fascinated by Karl Lagerfeld (just the way he managed to lose 40 kilos and maintain his weight has earned my utmost respect as a "curvy woman"). Yesterday, I finally had the perfume in my hands and generously "doused" myself with it for the office today. Unfortunately, I can't really describe scents very well (with the individual notes and so on) and therefore keep my comments to a minimum. But since no one else has said anything about it yet, I would like to at least give my general impression:
I smell soft, powdery, unsweetened violet. The adjectives that come to mind for this fragrance: Elegant, mature, unobtrusive, sophisticated, understated. Although the perfume is not a powerhouse (which I usually prefer), it is still quite present (and I hope it lasts long).
The scent is office-appropriate, but also suitable for "finer" occasions.
Overall, I find it very worthy of Mr. Lagerfeld.

stolen beauty sleep
Last week, a Rossi brochure fluttered into the house - with fragrance offers at tempting prices.
Among them was Karleidoscope, which was unknown to me until now.
But the price was hot - and Mr. Karl has not disappointed me with his fragrance creations so far.

Unfortunately, there is no Centaur branch in my vicinity, so I had to enlist my friend, who can reach one on foot.

Knowing that from noon onwards you only get a shake of the head and a condescending look about your bohemian life from the staff, I bothered my friend with the request to interrupt her beauty sleep half an hour earlier, to rush to Rossi before her shift began and get me the little Karl.
After I convincingly assured her that she was already beautiful enough, she agreed to the endeavor.

And indeed, her effort was worth it.

Karleidoscope delights me right from the start with two of my favorite ingredients - neroli and violet leaf.
This combination of coolness and familiarity is very attractive.
The freesia is bright, and the heliotrope is softly sweet and shimmering - a changing mixture - like the light that falls through the packaging when you turn it like a kaleidoscope before the astonished eye.
For me, as a playful child, a welcome and original gimmick.
With the exotic patchouli and the mysterious tonka bean, the kaleidoscope reveals even more facets that do justice to its name.

It is indeed a light-filled, transparent scent that still has presence and radiance.

I have sprayed it on again now, at bedtime, and hope for light, bright dreams.

A gentle fragrance also brings beautiful sun rays to the skin
Who doesn't know it? Being surrounded by a scent that is so gentle and really holds back with its revelation? Yet it presents itself beautifully and smoothly...

Karleidoscope is such a fragrance. A scent that wraps itself around the wearer, threading fine, barely noticeable sun rays through the skin. Today I am wearing a white dress that feels just as delicate on my skin as Karleidoscope. The wind flows through the dress, allowing me to be gently caressed by the freshly washed cotton fabric. A fine neroli scent caresses my nose, delights it, and I can't help but smile. My lips are subtly covered with a lipstick. I appear natural, and Karleidoscope makes that naturalness even more perfect. The scent is quiet. As quiet as my head today. I have switched to neutral. No hamster is running laps on its wheel. No worries. I am completely carefree today, filled with inner joy.

I’m relaxed, casually enjoying the day in the garden, sipping my first Hugo, and letting the sun shine on me. Wonderful! My friend is coming soon, and we’re going to spend some time in nature. My companion comes in the form of a TZ, as it fades away from the skin after a good three and a half hours. But I don’t mind, at that price! I’ll reapply a few times. The fine neroli scent really sets me up well for the day, and the fragrance has a glassy quality. Clear like a freshly washed wine glass. Subtle, fresh, and infused with a hint of coolness. Yes, that’s Karl. A white line runs through the black nothingness. I like that!

However, the coolness doesn’t last long, as it then develops in a highly sensitive manner. Finely powdered, underscored by a bitter note. Everything is very quiet and reserved. Then a little highlight emerges. Flowers. Also light again, not overwhelming. You can sense the violets. They slowly embrace the wearer and let them shine. Youthful is dear Karleidoscope.

Definitely suitable for the warm season. Surely excellent to wear on a walk in the woods or on the beach. It brings beautiful sun rays to my skin and into my inner self. Even the hamster in my head is lying in the corner, dozing away.

I let the images of the forest glide through my mind. The rays surround me, the leaves brush against my ears, and I sink into myself. It is gentle. Yes, very gentle. But very, very enjoyable.

Can understated elegance be overdone?
Coco would probably say no. But I am not Coco, and above all, I am significantly less elegant; perhaps that’s why I am not 100% convinced by "Karleidoscope"?

"Remarkably understated for a Lagerfeld," I thought during my first testing. The sillage is not weak for me, but very close to the skin, which is not necessarily a flaw. Moreover, the scent is unobtrusive, but certainly not only suitable for the office; it is also appropriate for more festive occasions.

In my eyes, "Karleidoscope" is a herb-sweet, cool-spicy, very classic fragrance composition with a clear focus on violet, freesia, and heliotrope. Benzoin and patchouli give the scent an earthy quality without taking away its femininity.

However, it doesn’t quite reach more than a 70% rating for me because the longevity is not particularly impressive and because "Karleidoscope" lacks that certain something, the special twist that one usually finds in Lagerfeld fragrances. The scent is not entirely generic, but it is probably more suited for women who prefer a more understated approach and at the same time do not want to smell like everyone else.

What immediately crossed my mind while testing was: Me at a Lagerfeld fashion show party, casually tapping the great master on the shoulder and saying, "Oh, by the way Karl, great job on your 'Karleidoscope' - when you’ve finished perfecting it, do send me a bottle, okay?"

You should have seen the laser look he shot me over his sunglasses...

I Smell and Wonder
Recently, I visited the drugstore chain with the centaur in its logo and checked out the fragrance selection. That's when I noticed Karleidoscope, which I had not known before and had not seen anywhere else. So, I called over a sales assistant, who somewhat reluctantly first sprayed the fragrance on a test strip and, at my request, also on my wrist.

My first impression from the test strip was fine, sweet, and very ethereal, so I wanted to have a skin test as well. After the alcohol evaporated, I mainly perceived this ultra-sweetness of the heliotrope, which becomes a bit more harmonious and milder due to the added flowers, without knowing the fragrance pyramid. I cannot detect a distinct scent progression; after the alcohol evaporates, it remains almost unchanged until the base. Overall, I still quite like the fragrance. I find it elegant and pleasant, not a headache candidate, but the sillage is so weak for an EdP that I wouldn't spend money on it.
Right after the test, I went to the gym, where fragrances usually show their true face due to the rising body heat and higher pulse, and even there I could only smell it by putting my nose directly to my wrist. After showering, it was completely gone.

Since I owned several Lagerfeld fragrances in the 80s and 90s, all of which were strong and room-filling - I still mourn my beloved KL endlessly - I am very irritated by the restraint of this little water, especially since it does not match at all with the impression I have of Karl Lagerfeld.

What fits more into this picture is the design of the tube-shaped packaging with faceted glass on the cap, behind which is a black sponge with the typical outline of Karl Lagerfeld, so that one can infinitely multiply his silhouette when looking through it. The little sponge can be removed, scented with the perfume, and for example, placed in the laundry or in a handbag. Thus, the eccentricity and presence of the master have remained in this case with the "surroundings," and the content is largely unimpressive. This would also explain why it is already in drugstores less than a year and a half after its market launch and has not even encountered me in the ever-present orange or turquoise perfumery chains.

Softer, cozy wellness-chill-yoga-sleep scent; subtly enchanting; light yet precious; more often & more than I thought.

Karl - where are you? Did they trim your braid? The roots are fine, but not much is left of it.

A clean, mature, confident women's fragrance that unfortunately comes off very subtle. It has about the sillage of a high-quality shower gel.

Generic scent, no distinctive character, pleasantly sweet... nice, but interchangeable.

more of everything up close, in its

Powdery violets, subtly accompanied by spicy angelica. Noble, elegant, and discreetly refined. It's enchanting my spring right now.

Smells very similar to Prada Tendre for me, just (even) softer.

Really extremely subtle! Barely noticeable on me..(was a blind buy). The opposite of "KL". Illusion of a leather hint? Probably just my imagination...

Absolutely unusual start, then more and more tonka, elegant, black-and-white somehow, nauseating :(
