Surprisingly green

The Kristin Ess clarifying shampoo is my favorite smell in the world. It is woody, spicy and musky with the perfect pop of fresh and floral. I was so hoping that this would be the same, but I think the alcohol format strips some of the nuances. I mostly get green apple and gardenia, the other notes kind of muddy into a vague astringent scent. It is still pleasant, but it isn't what I expected it to be.
