Molecular incense
Dawn Whispers is a molecular fragrance that uses aldehydes to create a fizzy incense impression. It’s accompanied by a very prominent milk note. The fragrance is pretty linear with a good lasting power, especially on clothing. It dries down to a sweet amber base.
The scent is extraterrestrial yet familiar. It’s like a fresh laundry and a creamy fabric softener. It’s like an iron filled with milk instead of water. It’s like a car wash with incense. It’s a clash of familiar scents but in a new setup. To me it’s wearable although I can imagine that it’s going to be divisive. The milky-metallic accord can be off-putting as it can be associated with hospital and certain bodily fluids.
I think that the fragrance will find its audience as the industrial accords have been on the rise recently. Unfortunately it doesn’t reach perfection. At times Dawn Whispers seem to be more about the idea than a good perfume. It comes off as a demo, an idea that didn’t translate perfectly into scent. It indeed was a risk, but has it paid off? Only partially
