Holy aperitif
I don't know if the name refers to the town of Altamura in Apulia, known for its bread, but the connection name fragrance is extremely misleading, at least for me. This does not detract from the fact that the fragrance is remarkable and among the most enjoyable of this new brand, created by one of perfumery's holy noses. The opening is an explosion of rich, deep incense that gives way to sweet orange and hints of vermouth. The incense remains, a little muted, and we find ourselves in front of a mixed Aperol/Campari aperitif Spritz. A light boozy variation on the classic incense theme, evocative and original as only the Maestro knows how to do.

Cosmic orange
This is a beautiful incense scent! The orange is very prominent, very sparkly. I definitely get the "cosmic" inspiration from the description. Despite the strong notes listed, this is a subtle scent, very wearable, very unisex. I recommend it for all citrus and incense lovers. It's a boozy orange but, thank god, not sweet. Great and memorable scent, like everything I smelled from L'Entropiste.

Orange peel drifting through quiet incense smoke!
It opens with a flash of orange peel, bright and slightly alcoholic, as if the zest has been soaked in something bitter and golden. It feels immediate, almost weightless, before incense slowly appears. It's neither dense nor churchy, rather airy, glowing, suspended. The citrus never turns sweet. Instead, it stays dry, a little boozy, carried by a lot of resinous notes and a somehow wrapped around veil of ambered warmth that settles close to the skin.

It's one of those Bertrand Duchaufour creations that feels very familiar if you know his handwriting. It brings back memories of his earlier work for L’Artisan Parfumeur, where incense was never about heaviness but about light, movement, and texture. Altamura to me somehow follows that same philosophy. It wears quietly, with confidence, unfolding slowly on the skin.

Alramura has a cosmic vibe, almost comes off like a silver light, not in a loud or abstract way, but how the scent seems to hover between materials. Orange, incense, amber, and only a touch of liqueur-like bitterness move in and out of focus.

Drink, Smoke, or Clean?
The first spray reminds me of the peeling of an orange and the zesty bubbling of a cocktail with - yes, Cointreau…
Then something smoky immediately rises and accompanies from that point on. There follows a phase that reminds me of organic orange cleaner from the health food store… The drydown becomes rounded and soft, slightly woody, like dried orange slices. The scent is never too sweet, very balanced and rounded.
The longevity is decent, as it is a versatile fragrance that you can confidently apply again.

Incense, sweet orange and vermouth, ultimately evoking a boozy Spritz, an original twist on classic incense by a master perfumer.

Starts citrusy with a boozy twist. Incense with rum and a hint of sweetness in the drydown. Very interesting scent, sillage unfortunately mediocre.

For me, the incense clearly dominates, with only a very subtle hint of candied orange - I expected more...

Typical incense scent, green-ethereal with a hint of citrus, later slightly sweet, unfortunately I don't smell any liqueur-Cointreau... oh well.

For hours, bitter-fruity aperitif vibes
Then slowly but steadily ambered incense resin
